Persian Gulf Aftermath By March 1991, 800 oil wells had been set ablaze by Iraqi occupation forces in Kuwait, and after the coalition forces ejected Iraqi troops from the. It was soon estimated that six million barrels of oil were burning per day circa March 1991 in Kuwait.
