The GLOBALG.A.P Aquaculture Standard has been expanded in the new Version 4 to include any hatchery-based farmed species that can be produced under controlled aquatic systems, including the consideration of passive collection of seedlings in the planktonic phase. SFP tilapia aquaculture improvement programme. March 2011. Several eco-labeling schemes and standards are emerging for tilapia. The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership is comparing these schemes by running side-by-side audits on ten different tilapia farms for each scheme. FSA Scotland - Research commissioned - fish and shellfish safety. 16 March 2011. Five pieces of research will help gather evidence to improve the hygiene standards of fish and shellfish consumed in Scotland. The call for proposals goes out 1 April, projects are awarded in July. The competition has two interrelated core themes: Increasing domestic supply of sustainably produced vegetable protein for farmed animals (including land and marine based aquaculture); and increasing production efficiency and sustainability of domestically supplied animal and fish protein for food, and reducing waste in the food chain to the point of retail sale.
