BEATONS LAKE TIMBER SALE Highlights Watersmeet Ranger District OTTAWA NATIONAL FOREST The Beatons Lake Timber Sale Area is located 10 miles west of Watersmeet, Michigan, and 1 mile north on Gogebic County Road 531 (Beatons Lake Road). Payment Units are located on both sides of Gogebic County Road 531, and along Forest Roads 6766 and 6767. Temporary Road entrances associated with Payment Units 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 along Gogebic County Road 531 shall be completed in compliance with Gogebic County Road Commission Permit #1047. Construction permit expires 10/29/2016. 5 of the 12 payment unit acres have a dry summer operating period (See Prospectus or Sample Contract) and either roads receiving maintenance to dry summer standards or temporary back in landings developed to dry summer standards. If roads will support haul in the dry summer conditions, then operations may be permitted in unrestricted payment units. Pre-haul Maintenance of 1.58 miles of road is required, along with construction and subsequent decommissioning of 6 temporary roads and back-in landings totaling 0.68 miles, as part of this contract. This contract has no deposits for deferred maintenance of roads. Prospective purchasers are cautioned that cutting or otherwise damaging any timber, tree, or other forest product except as authorized is prohibited (36CFR). This regulation applies to the cutting, chipping, or chopping of trees to determine tree suitability for specialty products within the proposed sale area.
