Software Module s Description Page 1 General Building Information BUILDING AREA AND HEIGHT - This module designed to determine the height and area of buildings on the basis of occupancy group classification and type of construction established which enables Table 503 to become the primary tool for determining the minimum type of construction. All buildings are subject to these limitations unless more specific code provisions for a building type provide for different height or area limitations. For instance, Section 507 allows certain buildings to be unlimited in area due to lack of exposure, low hazard level, construction type, the presence of fire safety systems or a combination of these characteristics, Table 503 would not apply. AREA MODIFICATION - This module performs an area modification (increase) for areas within each floor which limited by Table 503 due to frontage and automatic sprinkler system. See section 506. The allowable area of a building is permitted to be increased when it has a certain amount of frontage on streets or open spaces since this provides access to the structure by fire service personnel, a temporary refuge area for occupants as they leave the building in a fire emergency and a reduced exposure to and from adjacent structures. HEIGHT MODIFICATION - This module performs a building height increase where a building is equipped throughout with an approved automatic sprinkler system in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1. Section 504 contains exceptions to the height limitations of Table 503 for certain buildings. These exceptions are made on the basis of the structure s proposed occupancy and of fire safety features included in the design of the structure. MIXED AREA RATIO - This module performs calculation to the floor's mixed areas and obtains the ratio by using the unity formula. For each story, which must be determined that the sum of the ratios of the actual floor area of each separated occupancy, respective to the most restrictive occupancy contained therein as compared to the floor areas allowed by Table 503 and as modified by section 506 for each respective occupancy, does not exceed one. See section 508.3.3.2. UNLIMITED BUILDING AREA - This module determines the limitation of building when surrounded and adjoined by public ways or yards not less than 60 feet in width. See section 507. BUILDING WITH ONE EXIT - This module determines the maximum height of the building above the grade plane, the maximum occupant load per floor and the travel distance. See Table 1019.2.

Software Module s Description Page 2 Means of Egress FLOOR AREA ALLOWANCE PER OCCUPANT - This module determines the number of occupants computed at the rate of one occupant per unit of area. See Table 1004.1.1 and section 1004.7. The intent of this section is to indicate the procedure by which design occupant loads are determined. This is particularly important because accurate determination of design occupant load is fundamental to the proper design of any means of egress system. DOORS DISCHARGE CAPACITY - This module computes the total width of means of egress doors in inches, the doors discharge capacity in (in 2 ) per occupant, with respect to the egress discharge factor [inches per occupant] and determines the required exit width. See Table 1005.1. STAIR DISCHARGE CAPACITY - This module computes the total width of means of egress stairs in inches, and the stairs discharge capacity in (in 2 ) per occupant, with respect to the egress discharge factor [inches per occupant] and determines the required exit width. See Table 1005.1 OCCUPANT LOAD NUMBER OF EXITS - This module determines the floor's minimum number of exits with respect to the total occupant load. See Table 1019.1 based on the occupant load of the story, except as modified in Section 1015.1 or 1019.2.
