FOREST LAND DISTRIBUTION BY OWNERSHIP Forest land area by ownership 01-01-2015 10,5% 49,8% 39,7% Forests of State importance Private forests State forests reserved for restitution Small scale private forests (3.4 ha average holding, about 248 thousand owners). Land reform in nearly 20 years still not completed no economic activities in state forests reserved for restitution. Until October of 2018 all forests reserved for restitution should be transferred to state forest enterprises (suitable for administration) or sold in auctions (the rest ones). State forest enterprises manage 1046 thousand ha of forest land area. It comprises 96 % of all forests of state importance (other managers: administrations of municipalities, military, etc.).
Forest use wood production annual volumes of forest fellings during last years: 7.0-7.6 mill. m 3 (removals) or ~9.0-9.5 mill. m 3 (stem wood), final fellings area: ~20 000 ha potential 23-25 000 ha; amount of felling residues annually used for biofuel (from state forests): 300 000 m 3 ; amount of annually felled timber is considerably under the gross annual increment of forests available for wood supply (~60%).
