Mordad 1396 (1390 = 100) The Producer Price Index (PPI) went up 1.7 percent in Mordad 1396 following an increase of 1.1 percent in Tir 1396. The index level of 243.8 was 10.0 percent higher than in Mordad 1395. For the first 5 months of 1396, the PPI edged up 9.1 percent, compared to the similar period in 1395. This index moved up 7.6 percent for the 12 months ended in Mordad 1396. Agriculture, forestry and fishing: In Mordad, a 3.2-percent rise in the prices of this group can be traced to the rises in the indices for cereals, peas, melons, potatoes, onions, garlics, tomatoes, lucerne, grapes, dates, stone fruits, pistachio, animal production and aquaculture. In contrast, prices for lentils, sorghum and Persian Gulf fish went down. Manufacturing: The Manufacturing group index increased 1.9 percent, which was mostly due to the growths in the indices for slaughter livestock and poultry, pasteurized butter, "manufacture of pastry, biscuit and cakes", herbal waters, alcohol-free beer, fustian fabric, particle board and high pressus laminate, jet propulsion fuel (type 4), acetic acid, sulphur, butane, propane, urea, exported ammonia, high density polyethylene, manufacture of exported plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms, toothpaste, tire cord, drug and vaccine for livestock and poultry, glass, manufacture of basic metals, burrow, sink, 1
coffer, outlet and socket, washing machines, furniture and bandage. On the contrary, prices for sausage, oil cake, stretch thread, methanol, PVC and ring of car declined. Services: Increases in the indices of taxi fare, operation of storage and warehouse facilities for all kind of goods, teaching painting tuition fees, hospital activities and dental services mainly led to 0.6 percent rise in the services group. 2
