Competence and experience Brimer was founded in 1974 and for more than 40 years we have continuously been focusing on product development and innovation to be able to provide our customers with great solutions adapted to their specific needs. Today we are an experienced producer and fully integrated supplier of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) and composite products, we also deliver tank systems to a variety of industries. Since 1981 we have delivered more than 4,000 element-based tanks larger than 100 m 3. Quality is equally fundamental for us as for our customers and our quality assurance system are certified according to ISO 9001. 2
Your total supplier From basic design to completed tank erection on site All our tanks are designed by our in-house engineers with solid knowledge and experience of Glass Reinforced Plastics (GRP). We use state of the art 3D based FEM-analysis tools for structural analysis of our constructions, and we design according to international standards like NS-EN 13121 GRP tanks and containers. Our Project Managers follow the projects from the design to final assembly. Through the entire process we focus on close dialogue with our customer and their construction manager on site for optimal progress. 1. 3. Product development and structural analysis Our technical department take advantage of new technology for product development and structural calculation. Advanced FEM software for modelling of complex structures is used in our design and this is combined with comprehensive testing of material samples to achive optimal design. We also cooperate with well-known R&D institutions and other academic communities to seek advice when needed to assure high quality of our products. If required, we also provide calculations and drawings of concrete slabs or similar. Assembly We have our own team of experienced fitters which do the erection and polymer work on site. Our tanks are element based enabling efficient transport and ensure accessibility wherever our customers site is. We assemble and complete the installation of the tank on site. 2. Production In our factory we have four different production lines: spray up, vacuum molding, hand lamination and metal works. In vacuum molding we manu facture larger GRP elements while the smaller ones are manu factured mostly through spray up processes. Smaller tanks in sizes up to approx. 200 m 3 will normally be assembled and outfitted at the factory. Our metal workshop makes customized components and parts in stainless steel, galvanized steel and aluminum. We also make our own molds for GRP elements in-house. 4. Aquaculture With its smooth hygienic surface, Brimers tanks for land-based aquaculture have become the obvious choice for many fish farming facilities in recent years. Flexibility regarding design and assembly, combined with documented strength and properties, makes our tanks ideal for land-based aquaculture applications. We supply both smaller and larger tanks, and Brimer s unique way of combining GRP and concrete for larger tanks allow us to build very large units. So far, the largest tanks we have built are 28 meters in diameter and 5-meter-high encapsuling more than 3000 m 3 of water. The large tanks/vessels (>ø13.5 m) are under normal circumstances mounted on a concrete slab (slightly conical with center as lowest point) equipped center drainage and pipes molded into the concrete slab. The GRP tanks are fixed to the concrete slab. We have highly experienced in-house engineers who design and carry out strength analysis (FEM models), supply all required documentation, drawings, etc. in our projects. Our ISO 9001 QA-certification ensure that our processes throughout the whole value chain from sales to final assembly have the required quality. Our experienced project managers make sure that our delivery is according to contract and customer requirements and coordinate the activity on site with our client and other contractors/sub-contractors. Our dedicated team of fitters transports the GRP elements with trucks. The trucks are equipped with a crane making sure that we are self-sufficient with on-site crane capacity for loading/unloading and assembly purposes. Brimer is able to maintain quality in every aspect from purchasing raw materials to ready-made tanks for aquaculture. All these tanks are delivered according to NS 9416 2013 land-based aquaculture facilities for fish. Outer concret ring where the tank elements are attached to the concrete slab. Center pots and pipes can be integrated into the socket and / or placed in the concrete slab. We also supply tanks for installation directly on a bed of sand or tanks without bottom which are fixed directly to a concrete bottom/floor. 4
We deliver ladders with floats at the end. Out of the way during operation always available when the tank is empty. Hatches: We install wall mounted hatces integrated inside the tank wall. Hinged on the outside, swung in and away from the opening. This simplifies internal maintenance in larger tanks. Water and sewerage Brimer is the largest supplier of tanks for potable water in Norway. Our tanks are produced in GRP with smooth and maintenance free surfaces inside. We put effort into our exterior facade assuring that our tanks are environmentally well integrated into the nature and surroundings. To do so we, in cooperation with each individual customer, offer a variety of external claddings, colors, different ceilings etc. according to the customer requirements. Further, to simplify the everyday life of the operators at the potable water tank site, we also offer hatches, ladders, valve enclosements, staircases, air ventilation systems, etc., allowing, operators to operate in a safe, clean and dry environment. On our clients requests we can also offer to include concrete works & foundations, valves, pipes, electric control panels, etc. Roof elements ements and gutters Our roof construction consists s of self-supporting GRP elements and may be accompanied anied by integrated gutter system if required. Here our GRP elements make the inside of the tank, and the next layer consist of concrete and insulation, and finally an outer GRP cladding makes the facade. 6
Inside surfaces All inner surfaces of Brimer products comes with the well-recognized gelcoat liner. All Brimer tanks for potable water is delivered with seamless joints, and smooth, white, sealed and maintenance free inner surfaces. Hence assuring superior hygienic performance, easy operation, long life and a cost-efficient lifecycle. Building/housing for pump systems Brimer valve housing comes with or without staircases according to customer requirements. The valve housing may be delivered as a stand-alone free-standing structure or can be interfaced with the potable water tank(-s) and can be easily customized for the various tank diameters.. Hatches: According to customer requirements we integrate wall mounted and/or roof mounted hatches for easy access to the tank. The same hatches may also be used for easy and effective evacuation purposes if any injuries occur. 7
Fish handling, fishery and industries The Fish handling and fishery industries have strict requirements for collection and storage of waste products and various fluids. Our flexible and element-based GRP tank systems can be tailor made to a variety of application and needs, and flexible both in terms of size and type of content. And most importantly; no corrosion. In recent years, we have experienced an increasingly interest for our unique system for sea water intakes ( pump well tank ). This is basically a GRP sandwich construction which we equip with some steel rod reinforcement in the sandwich gap and manufacture this in our factory, and then transport to customer site. Here the Pump Well Tank is installed at a leveled surface at the seabed and then the sandwich gap is easily filled with concrete. Brimer make sure that the volume of concrete is calculated to assure no buoyancy of the tank. When the concrete is cured the water inside can be evacuated, and the pump system can be installed inside the tank. Then the sea and land pipes/hoses can be connected, and the system is ready for use.
