Background is vital to a strong Colorado economy, and has great growth potential. Colorado manufacturers are highly innovative and use advanced processes to serve diverse sectors across the Colorado economy - from electronics and consumer products to clean energy systems, aerospace vehicles and medical devices. leaders in the state are also global leaders in advanced materials, as well as food manufacturing and beverage processing. Momentum is building in Colorado around the opportunities for innovation and the creation of highly-skilled, high paying jobs in advanced manufacturing. The industry is diverse and geographically disbursed across the state, with over 5,900 manufacturing firms, more than 120,000 employees, and $16.3 billion in annual economic output. Global shifts in the manufacturing landscape are putting Colorado at the forefront of bringing advanced manufacturing back to the United States. Colorado is focused on job creation in manufacturing through focused recruitment of new manufacturers and the identification of business-to-business opportunities for existing manufacturers. Forbes ranked Metro Denver sixth of fastest growing cities in 2015. Factors that earned us this standing included our 4 percent unemployment rate 2.66 percent job growth rate. According to Money magazine, Denver is the best city to live in the West. The ranking called Metro Denver a mecca for millennials and that the city has relatively affordable real estate and great access to recreation. WalletHub ranked three Metro Denver cities among the best in the country for first-time home buyers: Centennial ranked third, Longmont ranked ninth, and Thornton ranked 10th.
