Gates and door need to be selfclosing, self-latching and open away form pools. Gate latch must be higher than for existing pools and for all new pools. Doors accessing pool area to have an alarm audible for seconds throughout house. Alarm must reset automatically. Pool fencing / barrier/ enclosure must be tall, difficult to climb over, maximum vertical clearance from ground to the bottom of the enclosure of or less. Gaps or voids not to allow passage of a sphere equal to or greater than inches in diameter. OR The pool shall be equipped with an approved safety cover. Labeled ASTM Standard F or the residence (Garage & guesthouses) shall be equipped with exit alarms on those doors providing direct access to the pool. Underfloor and attic screens. sq. foot per sq. INTERIOR AREAS Verify hearth dimensions at fireplace. Fireplace openings less than 6 sq. ft. Then hearth depth and from each side. No combustible material within 12 of fireplace openings shall project more than for each clearance from such openings. (Example ¾ projection needs 6 clearance or 1 ½ projection needs a 12 clearance.) CBC 3102.7.8 Verify that fireplace chase cap and spark arrestor has been installed as per manufacturer specifications. CBC 3102.5.1 Smoke detectors are needed when interior work exceeds $ and a permit is required or when one or more sleeping rooms are added in an existing dwelling. Smoke detectors may be solely battery operated when installed in existing buildings. CBC 310.9. In dwelling units a smoke detector is needed in each sleeping room and hallways or area giving access to each separate sleeping room. CBC 310.9 Smoke detectors are to be installed in each story and the basement. Where the ceiling height of a room opens to the hallway serving the bedroom exceeds that of the hallway. CBC 310.9. When smoke detectors are newly hard wired they need to be interconnected and with battery back up CBC 310.9. At least one window in a sleeping area to comply with egress requirements. Maximum.
