JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: HLTA Post Holder: [ADD POST HOLDER NAME] The description of the duties, responsibilities and accountabilities for the post of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) within the Trust have been set out in this job description. Responsibility Areas: Acting as a HLTA within a specific subject area Supporting students in lessons and delivering / coordinating interventions to play a critical part in the overall target for students to make 4 levels of progress over KS2 4 Undertaking administrative duties for Inclusion Leader Accountabilities: A B C D E To support all students to access the curriculum in the subject area to which assigned to play a critical part in the overall target for students to make 4 levels of academic progress. Coordinate and deliver interventions (both pastoral and academic) in the assigned subject area and in other areas of the school (under the direction of the Subject / Inclusion Leaders). Undertake specific and ad hoc administrative support for the Inclusion Leader and members of the subject area to which assigned to assist with learning and teaching. To effectively appraise, performance manage, line manage and deploy support staff for which you are made responsible as appropriate. Generic duties relevant to all members of staff. Area of Accountability A: SUPPORT ALL STUDENTS TO ACCESS THE CURRICULUM Become au fait with the Inclusion register and inform the Inclusion Leader should any student require placing on it; Establish respectful and professional relationships with all students in order to elicit from them, their needs and specific requirements; Continuously commit to increasing students confidence as learners; Take lead from the classroom teacher regarding deployment within a lesson; Monitor students progress in lessons and develop strategies to overcome learning barriers; Undertake laminating, photocopying and reprographic work as required to ensure work set is accessible to every student; Undertake covering of lessons where required; Fulfil administrative and reprographic duties as and when required by the classroom teacher; Liaise with and ensure effective communication with teachers and support staff regarding the progress and specific needs of individuals and differentiation required; Undertake, laminating, photocopying and reprographic work as required to ensure work set is accessible to every student; Provide input to Personal Education Plans (PEPs), strategies and specific needs; Monitor students participation in lessons and feedback to teachers accordingly. Area of Accountability B: CO-ORDINATE AND DELIVER INTERVENTIONS Coordinate a schedule of 1:1 academic mentoring of identified students; Work collaboratively with colleagues to target individuals for support within the classroom; Coordinate interventions in close liaison with subject leader. Analyse progress data to highlight and target underachievers; Manage, plan and teach timed programmes of intervention, consistently monitoring progress and impact; Organise logistics of interventions and timetabling; Analyse entry and exit data of interventions to submit an end of programme report to subject leaders; Deliver interventions in the classroom or in withdrawn groups; Maintain records of all student interventions both 1:1 and small group; Effectively resource interventions ensuring specific needs are targeted; Plan for interesting and engaging interventions.

Area of Accountability C: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Contribute to and on occasion attend SEND meetings; Collate information for SEND annual reviews and LAC reviews; Support with any administrative duties as required; Liaise with the Inclusion Leader on a regular basis to discuss individual needs and progress. Area of Accountability D: APPRAISAL, PERFORMANCE AND LINE MANAGEMENT To act as line manager for those support staff for whom you are responsible, undertaking performance management reviews yearly in conjunction with the Trust s policies and procedures; Ensure all members of staff for whom you are accountable have clear targets for personal and professional progression in their work and know how their progress towards those targets will be assessed (in line with Trust policies); Contribute to the review of job descriptions for support staff for whom you are responsible when requested by the Principal or Headteacher; Undertake regular evaluation of staff progress towards agreed improvement objectives through the Trust s appraisal, performance management and line management policies, practices and procedures; Contribute positively to your own appraisal, performance management and line management. Learning and Teaching This is our core business and therefore is an absolute priority of any work undertaken by anyone in the school in any capacity. Use of ICT It is expected that all teaching and support staff follow the ICT Vision of the Seckford Foundation Free Schools Trust.

All teaching staff will be expected to ensure that all students leave the school with transferable ICT skills, knowledgeable in developing technologies and equipped for the next stage of their education or work life. ICT must be used creatively to inspire and motivate students where it is relevant to do so. All staff will be expected to utilise ICT and to improve communication and reduce paper use. Security procedures must be followed when using ICT systems. All staff are expected to follow (and ensure students follow) the procedures as laid out in the Trust s Acceptable Use Policy. Staff are also expected to ensure they follow Trust policies with regard to professional conduct when using ICT systems. Data Protection It is essential when working with computerised systems that you are completely aware of your responsibilities at all times under the Data protection Act 1984 (as amended) for the security, accuracy, and significance of personal data held on such systems. Health and Safety Employees are required to work in compliance with the schools Health and Safety policies and under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (as amended), ensuring the safety of all parties they come into contact with, such as members of the public, in premises or sites controlled by the school. In order to ensure compliance, procedures should be observed at all times under the provision of safe systems of work through safe and healthy environments, including information, training and supervision necessary to accomplish those goals. Code of Conduct Every member of staff, regardless of whether teaching or support must meet the expectations of them as outlined in the Trust s Code of Conduct for Staff. British Values Every member of staff, regardless of whether teaching or support, must follow the Trust s Code of Conduct for Staff and the DfE s Teachers Standards document, specifically with reference to: showing tolerance of and respect for the rights of others; promoting fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; not undermining or allowing anyone else to undermine those values. Political Views All staff are expected to ensure that where political issues are bought to the attention of students, reasonably practicable steps have been taken to offer a balanced presentation of opposing views to students at any time where they have been presented in school or any learning activity, during enrichment or extra-curricular activities or through the distribution of material promoting any of these activities.
