Celebration of Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week during 23rd 29 th December, 2015 at ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram, Meerut ICAR-IIFSR celebrated the Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan week during 23 rd to 29 th December, 2015 on the birth anniversary of the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Late Shri Choudhary Charan Singh, two former Prime Ministers of India. The week was celebrated by organizing various farmer training programmes, farmer-scientist interaction programmes, works shops and lectures as described below. Date: 23/12/2015 1. Lecture on ChoudharyCharan Singh-EkDarshan(pkS/kjhpj.k flag &,dn'kzu) During the programme a lecture was organized on the doctrines of late ShriChoudharyCharan Singh Ji. Dr. J. P. Singh, Director (Acting), ICAR-IIFSR chaired the session. Dr. BrahmPrakash, Director, ICAR-CIRC was chief guest on the occasion. Dr. S. D. Dhiman (Retd. Professor), HAU, Hissar delivered the lecture on the doctrines of Late ShriChoudharyCharan Singh, highlighting his dedications for the farming community.other dignitaries present in the programme were, ShriSatish Chairman (Progressive Famer, Village Karnaval, Dist. Meerut), ShriNaresh(Gram Pradhan, RasulpurJatan, Dist. Muzaffarnagar) along with farmers and staff of ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram, Meerut. The meeting was convened by Dr. Vinod Kumar, Principal Scientist. 2. Scientist- Farmer Interaction on farming system at Budhanavillage, Meerut giving emphasis on fruit production One day scientist-farmer interaction programe was organized at Budhana Village of Meerut District on 23/12/2015 on the eve of Jai Kisan- Jai Vigyan Week celebration by ICAR-IIFSR. The programme was hosted by ShriSubodhTyagi, a progressive farmers along with Gram Pradhan, Budhana. During the programme Dr. M. P. Singh, Principal Scientist, Dr. Dushyant Mishra, Senior Scientist and Dr. Chandra Bhanu, Scientist discussed about improved

management technology for orchards, pest and disease management in fruit plants, top opening in mango, pruning in mango, guava etc. besides weed management techniques. The discussion was followed by a practical demonstration to farmers about management of Loranthus (a parasitic weed), training pruning practicesand integrated pest and disease management in orchard crops. Date: 28/12/2015 3. Farmers training programme on seed production of Wheat and Mustard Under the aegis of Jai Kisan- Jai Vigyan week celebration a farmers training on Production of Wheat and Mustard seed was organized at ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram. Dr. J. P. Singh, Director (Acting), IIFSR briefed the farmers about research carried out by IIFSR for small and marginal farmers. On this occasion a lecture was delivered on techniques of seed production of wheat and mustard by Dr. Chandra Bhanu followed by a visit to Integrated Farming System Model developed at IIFSR Farm and appraised about the scientific production technologies of different modules of farming systems. The training programme was convened by Dr. Vinod Kumar, Principal Scientist.

Date: 29/12/2015 4. Demonstration cum training programme of small agricultural farm implements to farm women for reducing drudgery. One day workshop on demonstration cum training programme on use of improved small farm implements for reduction of drudgery of farm women was organized on 29 th December, 2015 in Siwaya farm of ICAR-IIFSR. The programme was chaired by Dr. J. P. Singh, Director, IIFSR and organized by Dr (Mrs.). NishaVerma and Dr (Mrs.).PoonamKashyap. A detailed lecture followed by practical demonstration of improved farm implements viz. Kudali, Rake, Transplanting machine, Maize Sheller, fruit harvester, Sickle, Khurpi, Ring cutter etc. was given to about 50 farm women from Siwaya village. Dr. M. P. Singh, Dr. Prem Singh were also present on the occasion. 5. Organization of One day workshop on Role of Hindi Language in Agricultural Development and Hindi KaviSammelanin honour ofshriatalbiharivajpayeeji, Fomer Prime Minister of India. One day workshop on Role of Hindi language in Agricultural development along with KaviSammelan was organized on 29-12-2015 to celebrate Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week by

ICAR-IIFSR. ShriJitendra Singh, Village Head, Siwaya graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr. J. P. Singh, Director, IIFSR welcomed all the guests and delivered a lecture about the vision of ShriAtalBihari Vajpayee ji towards agriculture development in the country. Renowned Hindi poets, ShriManjoj Kumar, ShriIshwar Chandra Gambhir, Shri Suresh Yadav, Shri Harish Chandra, Shri Sultan Singh Sultan were present in the event and recited their poems emphasizing contribution of ShriVajpyeeji to agricultural development. 6. Felicitation of Progressive farmers of the region. A farmer felicitation programme was organized in the afternoon of 29th December, 2015 to honour progressive farmers of the region. On this occasion 5 progressive farmers (Shri Mahesh Kumar, Village-Vijouli, ShriSatesh, Chairman, Kasba, Karnawal, Shri Akbar Chaudhary, Kasba, Sardhana, Shri Shiv Kumar, Village Tisang and Shri Ashok Kumar, Village- Hansapur)of District Meerut and Muzaffarnagar in different field of agriculture were honoured by ICAR-IIFSR for their contribution in their respective fields.the meeting was convened by Dr. Vinod Kumar, Principal Scientist. Dr. M.P.S. Arya, Principal Scientist proposed the vote of thanks.
