Connecting Commerce To The World When it comes to transportation and warehousing, Owensboro, Kentucky is one of the most productive and strategically located regions in the nation. The city s central location provides opportunity to deliver goods and materials to 50% of the nation s population within one day s travel time. The Owensboro Riverport plays an important role in the promotion of commerce in the region. Our location on the Ohio River at mile marker 759, with access to river, rail, and major highway systems, makes us the premier site for all your storage, transportation, and distribution needs. Our mission is to establish the Owensboro Riverport as the premier inland port in the Ohio River Valley. We strive to provide a dynamic, efficient, customeroriented, and market-focused intermodal facility that contributes to commerce and economic growth for Owensboro and the region. The Owensboro Riverport is designated as a Homeland Security Port, a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ Zone #29, Site 8), and a U.S. Customs Port of Entry. Metals Aluminum, steel, zinc, copper, lead, and other metals pass through the port on their journey to facilities around the country. Our position along the river allows for swift transport of metals to various industries throughout the nation. Inside and outside storage is readily available for all metals. In March of 2005, the London Metal Exchange licensed Owensboro Riverport as a warehouse for delivery of NA380.1 aluminum alloy against its North American Special Aluminum Alloy Contract (NASAAC). Owensboro Riverport is actively pursuing other LME commodities.

Warehousing With over 800,000 tons of cargo handled on a yearly basis, the Owensboro Riverport has developed ample warehouse space to accommodate the unique requirements for the industries we serve. Both raw materials and finished products are handled each day utilizing over 500,000 sq ft of on-site warehouse space with an additional 210,000 sq ft lease space available. Warehouse docks and three rail spurs ensure product handling efficiency and provide flexibility for truck and rail requirements. An 80 ft state-of-the-art truck scale is available on site for weighing applications. Owensboro Riverport operates a distribution center for a major paper products company. Bulk Transport, Cargo, and Special Projects Oftentimes, the most cost effective method of transport is via barge. River transport is low-impact, environmentally friendly, and a safe method of transportation. The Owensboro Riverport can handle the transport of bulk, break bulk, and project cargo. Our facility has the capacity to load, unload, store, and transfer large quantities of bulk material as required by our customers. Special projects, such as the transport of heavy equipment, are well within the Riverport s capabilities.

Agribusiness The Owensboro Riverport s location in the heart of America makes it a prime location for the shipping and receiving of materials for agribusiness. Large quantities of grain, fertilizer, and other agribusiness products are shipped and received through the port s facilities. Facilities include partitioned bulk storage for 4,200 tons and 6 million gallons of liquid storage capacity. Grain loading facilities provide 22,500 bushels-perhour loading and extensive grain storage. Agribusiness is a market segment we continue to focus on with public/private partnerships.
