General Precautions CAUTION: Proper use of this device depends on careful reading of all instructions and labels. CAUTION: Steam Sterilize (autoclave) or ETO sterilize only. Do not gamma ray sterilize. WARNING: After steam sterilization, unit will be hot. Allow adequate cooling time before handling. Do not drop or mishandle unit. Warnings and Cautions alert users to dangerous conditions that can occur if instructions in the manual are not obeyed. Warnings are conditions that can cause injury to the operator, while Cautions can cause damage to the equipment. Typical Sterilization Procedures CAUTION: Do not use dry heat or chemical sterilization or damage to the parts may result. WARNING: These items are not sterile when shipped to the customer. Before use they must be sterilized using steam or ethylene oxide (EtO). All parts are fabricated from the highest quality aluminum, stainless steel and plastic, and are designed to withstand high temperatures: Steam sterilization (autoclave): Use the normal cycle (250 degrees F or 121 degrees centigrade at 15 psi for 15 to 30 minutes) or the flash cycle (270 degrees F or 132 degrees centigrade at 30 psi for 3 to 12 minutes). Ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization: Use cycle and aeration times recommended by the manufacturer of the Sterilizer or use those determined at the hospital. Exterior cleaning should be done with a soft brush and a cloth. Gently brush all surfaces to remove dirt and dust. To remove any remaining dirt, use a cloth slightly dampened with a solution of mild detergent and water or a liquid disinfecting agent. 2

The Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container is comprised of three parts, a bottom well to hold the seeds, a screen to place over the seeds during sterilization and a cover which can be locked in place during transport. Disassemble the three parts of the Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container. Place the seeds to be sterilized into the well. Place the screen over the seeds to prevent the seeds from coming out of the bottom well during sterilization. Place the cover onto the Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container. The locking pins extend through the slots on the cover. The cover can be secured in place with a 1/8 turn. Tightening or loosening of the pins is not required. Secure the cover before transportation within the medical facility. Take the Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container to the autoclave and place it inside. Remove the cover and place it next to the well. Leave the screen in place to keep the seeds in the well during sterilization. Steam autoclave or ETO sterilize. Do not gamma sterilize. Sterilize the unit following the sterilization equipment manufacturer s, or health care facility s recommendations. Users should validate the chosen sterilization procedures. If there is water remaining in the well following sterilization, a longer drying cycle will be needed. Replace the cover following sterilization and secure with a 1/8 turn. After the cover is secured, the Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container can be moved to the needle loading area.

Maintenance As is standard practice, it is recommended that the Pill Box Seed Sterilization Container be examined after each use for deterioration. Exterior cleaning of the device, if needed, can be done with a cloth slightly dampened with a solution of mild detergent and water. There are no serviceable parts on the Seed Sterilization Pillbox. If assistance is desired in the proper disposal of this product (including accessories and components), after its useful life, please return to Standard Imaging.
