The Assistant Coordinator is responsible for the first line supervision of all Bridge Monitors, the issuance of equipment and backfilling the work schedule. The Assistant Coordinator patrols toll supported and pedestrian bridges and acts as a First Responder to Commission incidents and events at these locations. The Assistant Coordinator will assist Toll Bridge Operations when necessary. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: 3 years military, law enforcement or initial responder experience or 3 years experience as a Bridge Monitor at the Commission. May, 2018 -- 1

Role and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The Assistant Coordinator will work 8, 10, or 12 hours shifts to ensure proper supervision is being afforded to the Toll Supported Bridge Monitors 24/7, 365 days a year. Will conduct both mobile and foot patrols of the Commission s toll supported and pedestrian bridges. Will respond and act as the Commission s first responder to incidents and occurrences at toll supported and pedestrian bridges involving, but not limited to restricted vehicle crossings, bridge jumpers, motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian accidents, fires, thefts, disorderly persons, drownings, traffic incidents, motorist aids, missing persons, etc. Will be given traffic details when necessary. Will conduct security checks of toll supported and pedestrian bridges, along with other Commission owned property and assets. Will assist toll bridge operations and specifically the Officer-in-Charge when necessary. Will supervise and inspect Toll Supported Bridge Monitors to ensure they are performing their assigned duties. Will assign duties to Bridge Monitors if warranted and inspect daily logs, reports, records, etc. to ensure compliance with Commission directives. Is responsible for ensuring communications, directives, alerts and other forms of information is distributed to all Bridge Monitors in a timely fashion. Responsible for maintaining an update and accurate Operations Book and Roll Call Clip Board at each toll supported bridge shelter. Will inspect bridge shelters to ensure they have the necessary equipment and resources to enable the Bridge Monitor to do their job in a safe and efficient manner. Will inspect the actual bridge when necessary to ensure safe and efficient river crossings. Work cooperatively and in support of other allied agencies (Police, Fire, Rescue, and Departments of Transportations (DOT s)) when necessary. Work with security operations personnel and Commission employees in general to establish information regarding past, current, and future threats and/or risks. Must be able to perform all the duties of a Bridge Monitor and may from time to time be required to backfill a Bridge Monitor s vacant shift. Responsible for backfilling schedule changes, absenteeism, sick leave, vacation leave, personal leave, etc. Will adhere to the chain of command and report issues, events, occurrences etc. accordingly. Will assist with the implementation of safety and training programs for Public Safety and Bridge Security Operations. Works with the Primary Control Center to accomplish Commission goals and objectives. Must be available to travel throughout the Commission facilities and bridges. May be required to perform other supervisory, response, investigative, and administrative duties deemed necessary.
