: The Twin Wall Pipe System subsoil drainage pipe made from PE-HD, robust, strong and particularly resistant to corrosion in twin wall design, with smooth inner and profiled outer wall, flexible along its longitudinal axis circular shape, particularly good hydraulic properties special HEGLER slotting technique: a great number of short, clean-edged slots fully complying with the requirements of road and tunnel construction (suitable for traffic loads, SLW 60) the robust subsoil drainage pipe of PE-HD pipes are made from PE-HD. PE-HD being rupture-proof and impact-resistant down to -40 C and remaining inherently stable up to 100 C, the pipes can be installed at extreme temperatures and withstand even the roughest handling on site. Polyethylene has special surface properties. Due to this, the flow coefficient is low and deposits cannot settle easily. This is why has high flow rates, is easy to clean and abrasion-resistant. Polyethylene has a high resistance to chemical and biochemical influences. This makes the pipe resistant to any aggressive substances to be found in the ground. Special pipe geometry drainage pipes are socalled twin wall pipes with a corrugated outside and a smooth inner surface. Especially when partially filled, the smooth, circular inner pipe offers better hydraulic properties than pipes with boxtype bottom. Longitudinal cross-section of profile with adjoining coupler wall While twin wall pipes in general, and those of PE-HD in particular are very flexible, they never get out of shape. Settling of soil as it often occurs does not harm the pipes. The marking at the pipe crown guarantees proper positioning of the slotted part. Light weight, strong, flexible pipes are twin wall pipes according to DIN 16961. They fully meet the requirements of the new standard DIN 4262-1 (piping systems for civil engineering subsoil drainage). They are classified in pipe class R2 and category SD. They are extremely strong in spite of their light weight. Nevertheless, pipes are relatively flexible along their longitudinal axis and are able to follow soil movements thanks to their structured wall. As to mechanical strength, the pipe has been designed to withstand the loads occurring in public road con- struction (e. g. bridge class 60/30 according to DIN 1072). SIRBAU-spezial, the special subsoil drainage pipe from HEGLER, meets the requirements of exactly these applications: It is of a higher ring stiffness, namely S 8.0 kn/m2 to DIN EN IS 9969 or S R24 31.5 kn/m 2 to DIN 16961. For nominal sizes DN 300, 400, 500 and 600, the required cross-sectional areas of discharge as specified in DIN 4262-1 are met. Depending on the slotting pattern (TP or MP), the water inlet area equals or exceeds 180 cm 2 /m or 50 cm 2 /m. For applications where special requirements for the protection of structures have to be met, the SIRBAU-spezial subsoil drainage pipe is available in slot widths of 3.0 mm and wider as of nominal size DN 300, thus exceeding the requirements of DIN 4262-1 (DN 200 and DN 250: 2.0 mm). AQUATUB-Rw the storm sewer pipe for public road construction of SN 8 In Germany, sewer pipes of nominal size DN 300 or larger are normally used for the discharge of water collected from road construction. HEGLER recommends its AQUATUB-Rw storm sewer pipe in twin wall design for this purpose (nominal sizes 150 to 600 mm). Although lighter in weight than conventional pipes, AQUATUB-Rw is designed to meet the load requirements: S 8.0 kn/m2 to DIN EN IS 9969 or S R24 31.5 kn/m 2 to DIN 16961. It is very robust like all PE pipes, which offers essential advantages in laying. If laid in depths between 0.80 m and 5.00 m and in accordance with DIN EN 1610, the pipe is allowed to be installed without a structural analysis. therwise, proof has to be furnished. Quality control The constant quality of HEGLER drainage pipes and HEGLER storm sewer pipes is guaranteed by a supervision contract with the official testing laboratory, Süddeutsches Kunststoffzentrum (SKZ) at Würzburg. Test and certification marks: A 102 SIRBAU-spezial A 353 AQUATUB-Rw A 352 pipes are marked as follows, for example: HEGLER SIRPLAST 200 PE R2 SD 04 1 DIN 4262-1 NF P 16-351 SKZ A 102 subsoil drainage pipes are in compliance with DIN 4262-1 R2 SD and thus come up to the requirements of the public hand. 3

SIRBAU inspection and flushing chambers The SIRBAU chambers are fabricated from twin wall pipe with flat plateaus to form the connection areas. These plateaus are cut out of the body and take up the respective outlets/adaptors. There are two models with different inner diameters (SIRBAU S 300: d i = 300 mm and SIRBAU S 400: d i = 400 mm) to cover the complete size ranges of and SIRBAU-spezial pipes. According to their intended use, the standard chambers have two outlets for straight passage. Due to the fact that the pipes can be squared off by approx. 7, installation in a polygonal course is possible. Which chamber model is to be chosen for the individual pipe diameters can be taken from the opposite table. For adapting the chamber depth to the gradients, chamber raising pieces are available that can be cut to height on the construction site. Chamber covers made of cast iron are offered in classes A, B and D. For connection to concrete manholes, we can supply the appropriate liners. Quality control SIRBAU S 300 and S 400 chambers are subject to quality control to works standards and supervision and further testing by the official testing laboratory Süddeutsches Kunststoffzentrum (SKZ) at Würzburg. Special attention is being paid to the stiffness of the chamber body which is tested to DIN EN IS 9969 (S 8.0 kn/m2 ). This guarantees that the chambers will withstand the loads from soil pressure and traffic. 4

: The Twin Wall Pipe System accessories and fittings versatile and manifold robust and strong compatible with other HEGLER pipe products Accessories pipes are connected by means of slip couplings. For multipurpose lines, profiled sealing rings are available. Thanks to the extensive range of accessories, pipes are most versatile in use. They are just as well suited for systems consisting of laterals and mains as usual in sports field drainage as they are for subsoil drains and drainage systems for the protection of structures in contact with the soil. The accessory being interchangeable with that for the storm sewer pipe AQUATUB-Rw, there is an extensive range of fittings for all nominal sizes and applications. In case that special-purpose fittings not covered by our standard fitting range are required with the pipe as is often the case in civil engineering construction fittings can be tailored to the customer's request. The nominal ring stiffness of fittings comes up to that of the connected pipe system. With suitable branches/adaptors and either a 150 mm flexible connecting pipe AQUATUB-RwR or a 150 mm solid-wall sewer pipe to DIN 19534 multi-purpose drains of diameters between 250 mm and 400 mm can be connected to road gullies. 6

Important: If possible, pipes should be transported and stored on site in the original stillages. They should always be stored on an even and smooth surface. The pipe material is protected against damages by UV radiation. Nevertheless, the pipes should not be stored in the open air for more than 2 years. Continuous support at the given gradient should be provided in the pipe trench. The supporting layer of at least 10 cm in thickness must consist of sand. Local depressions should be provided at joints so that the couplings do not initially rest on the support. Joints should be made using the recommended lubricant. In order to ensure long-term operation of the drainage system, pipes should be embedded in filter material composed in accordance with the Terzaghi filter regulations. For embedding, DIN EN 1610 should be observed. It is recommended to use sand/gravel 0/8. Chambers should be embedded in a sand/gravel layer (d 20 cm). The bedding material should be compacted layer by layer. Compacting equipment should not be applied directly on top of the pipes. In the vicinity of pipes, light compacting equipment should be used. Pipes may be cleaned by highpressure flushing devices at a maximum flushing pressure of 120 bar.
