Identify the patient populations that benefit from statin therapy based on evidence from clinical trials. Apply the treatment approaches recommended in the 2018 ACC-AHA cholesterol guideline to patients with dyslipidemia. Define the role and optimal use of nonstatin therapy to lower LDL-C. Examine newer and emerging lipid-lowering by describing their mechanism of action, role in therapy, and efficacy in treating patients with dyslipidemia. Interpret results from large outcome studies evaluating lipid-lowering drug therapies, including omega-3 fatty acids and nonstatin medications used to lower LDL-C.
