All persons attending the seminar must register. Spouses, family and friends are welcome and do not need to register unless they attend the educational sessions. Special seminar fees are available for non-professional accompanying persons who wish to attend one or more sessions (no special receipt, documentation or credit is issued). Children are not allowed in the meeting room. Continuing Education Credit Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners: Paper certificates are provided daily at the end of each educational session. *Pharmacists: Please ensure that we have your NABP e-profile ID and date of birth on file. University Learning Systems reports credit directly to CPE Monitor. You may download your statement of credit directly from CPE Monitor. All Professions: Please inform University Learning Systems if you require that credit be reported to CE BROKER (University Learning Systems CE Broker Provider # 50-11357) or other organizations. Please provide all necessary reporting information when you register for the seminar. Requirements for Credit: Credit is dependent on verification of seminar attendance by on-time check-in at each session and ULS receipt of completed evaluations. Grievance Policy All grievances regarding programs, personnel or practices of any University Learning Systems continuing education program(s) should be brought to the attention of the University Learning Systems staff. We will attempt to satisfy the complaint. In addition, measures will be taken to correct deficiencies. Procedures in Resolving Grievances The purpose of these grievance procedures is to provide a fair and equitable proc edure for review of grievances related to the quality of continuing education programs, the amount of credit awarded for a program, fees and tuition, refunds of fees and tuition, and any other issues directly related to continuing education programming. Grievance Step #1: Any participant in continuing education programs sponsored by University Learning Systems may discuss any grievances with any employee of University Learning Systems. To facilitate handling of the grievance, University Learning Systems requests it in writing. Grievances shall be filed in a timely manner, within 30 days after receipt of a home study program or within 15 days after receipt of credit or a certificate of attendance at a live program. After receipt and consideration of grievances, University

Learning Systems shall act with due diligence to resolve the problem to the satisfaction of the participant. Grievance Step # 2: If University Learning Systems does not resolve the grievance to the participant s satisfaction, that participant may ask University Learning Systems to present the grievance to a Committee consisting of University Learning System s customers who have agreed to provide grievance assistance to University Learning Systems. The participant s written grievance is sent by University Learning Systems to the committee members, and ask that each review the complaint, review the facts as presented and discuss the grievance with the complainant (if deemed necessary). University Learning Systems will also ask its grievance committee to independently issue a ruling on the grievance, and send their results to University Learning Systems for action. If more than one solution is proposed, then University Learning Systems will utilize the one most acceptable to the complainant. Best Practices in Prescribing Opioids-Reamer L. Bushardt (1hr) Describe evolving opioid prescribing and regulatory practices in the United States. Discuss recently released opioid prescribing guidelines, highlighting the relevance to primary care providers. Describe best practices and patient care resources for managing patients with chronic nonmalignant pain, highlighting guidance from a regulatory perspective. Practical Approach to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Kevin O Connor (2hrs) Define treatment goals for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Discuss evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for diagnosing, treating and controlling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Develop a drug therapy and monitoring plan for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Identify strategies to support patient education and adherence within inhaled medications for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Identify the pathophysiology and comorbidities often associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Discuss lifestyle, medication, biomechanical and surgical options for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Assess the causes of male or female sexual dysfunction associated with medical conditions, medications and psychological factors, using established screening tools when appropriate. Discuss pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic options for the treatment of sexual dysfunction. Devise a treatment plan for addressing sexual dysfunction in men and women, including lifestyle modifications. Analyze communication strategies to guide sexual health discussions with a patient. List commonly used analgesic drug classes and individual drugs; describe their mechanism of action and identify the potential for both common and major side effects. Describe the multimodal approach to pain management, to include both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Drug Therapy in the Older Adult Reamer L. Discuss high risk drug-drug and drug-dietary supplement interactions commonly encountered in primary care, including best practices in identifying and managing related toxicities.
