16th International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications SIGMAP is part of ICETE, the 16th International Joint Conference on e-business and Telecommunications. Registration to SIGMAP allows free access to all other ICETE conferences. ICETE 2019 will be held in conjunction with ICSOFT 2019 and DATA 2019. Registration to ICETE allows free access to the ICSOFT and DATA conferences (as a non-speaker). Upcoming Deadlines Regular Paper Submission Extension: March 21, 2019 Regular Paper Authors Notification: May 2, 2019 Regular Paper Camera Ready and Registration: May 16, 2019 The purpose of SIGMAP 2019, the International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications, is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested on information systems and applications, including theory and practice in various heterogeneous and interrelated fields including image, video and audio data processing, new sources of multimodal data (text, social, health, etc.) and Multimedia Applications related to representation, storage, authentication and communication of multimedia information. Multimedia is a research field that includes computing methods in which different modalities are integrated and combined, with the aim to take advantage from each data source. Conference Areas 1. interested on information systems and applications, including theory and practice in various heterogeneous and interrelated fields including image, video and audio data processing, new sources of multimodal data (text, social, health, etc.) and Multimedia Applications related to representation, storage, authentication and communication of multimedia information. Multimedia is a research field that includes computing methods in which different modalities are integrated and combined, with the aim to take advantage from each data source. Traditionally, the multimedia research community has been able to handle big data, promote and create large scale datasets, as well as to address new challenges by proposing novel methods and applications. In the last few years, the amount of exchanged multimedia information have experienced an exponential growth (e.g., Social Network Platforms), as well as the availability of signal data coming from smart personal devices (e.g., smart watches, wearable sensors, smart bracelet, etc.) and other kinds of sensors. This allowed the development of new applications, aimed to take advantage from this huge amount of data. In this context, theoretical and practical methods, based on modern learning techniques (e.g., Deep Learning), able to improve each step of the processing, analysis, communication and presentation in such applications' pipelines are needed. The signal processing field, when combined with multimedia information encompasses a large number of research topics and emerging applications. CONFERENCE AREAS Each of these topic areas is expanded below but the sub-topics list is not exhaustive. Papers may address one or more of the listed sub-topics, although authors should not feel limited by them. Unlisted but related sub-topics are also acceptable, provided they fit in one of the following main topic areas: 1. MULTIMEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS 2. MULTIMEDIA SIGNAL PROCESSING 3.
