-2- SYSTEM DESCRIPTION MASCARET is a perforted decorative facing manufactured by bending, usable for covering facades (unperforated version), roofing or interior facing.(technical drawings nb. 2 to 6). The profile of these undulations makes it possible to use it with large spans, notably with Mascaret fabricated from pre-coated steel plate. This system is designed for implementation on new or refurbished works: public or private, industrial, commercial or lodging buildings. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS Manufacture: by bending (technical drawings nb.1) Length: 2950 mm max. 0\+5 mm. Useful breadth: 910 mm ± 3 mm, steel and aluminium. Undulation height 66,5 mm. Weight: 10 kg/m² (solid) à 7,7 kg/m² in 10/10ths perforated steel. Breadth = 910 Planview of standard perforation PERFORATION Four types of perforation are possible, while the arrangeent of holes remains the same and only their diameter varies. Standard perforation : 11,4 mm for a ratio of 27% of projected perforation. 10,2 mm for a ratio of 23% of projected perforation. 9,1 mm for a ratio of 17% of projected perforation. 8 mm for a ratio of 13% of projected perforation.
-3- These ratios correspond to a percentage of brightness, or the projection of the holes on a horizontal plane, with the Mascaret being «installed» on this plane. Attention : As the perforations have an invariable pitch of 24 mm, the distance from the edge of the profile to the beginning of the perforation varies according to the length of the Mascaret panel requested. The perforations of two Mascaret panels of different lengths positioned side by side will not be aligned, while the edges have the same alignment. You can get around this constraint by requested a perforation beginning as aprecise dimension from the beginning of the panel, with the last perforation row then often being truncated. FINISH ELEMENTS They are manufactured from th same sheet (same thickness, same quality of material) as MASCARET panels in a maximum length of 6,00 m. Vertical divider: Linear accessory installed vertically, plotting the facade or allowing a change of direction of the covering. -4- ASSEMBLY PRINCIPLE Mascaret panels are inted to be installed on wall rails according to the professional rules for manufacture and implementation of metallic siding. The system is to be installed on a ruled secondary frame allowing a ventilated sheet of air between the panel and the support wall or thermal insulation. This secondary frame is to satisfy the requirements of C.S.T.B. Book no. 3194 January-February 2000 - «General conditions of design and implementation of the metal frame and thermal insulation of offfset siding». ATTACHMENTS The density of attachments is to be determined according to the «Professional rules for manufacture and implementation of metallic siding», appendix B IV. For optimum aesthetics, we recommend installing an attachment at the bottom of each undulation. Types of attachments : Self-drilling screw of minimum diameter 5.5 mm for assembly with frame thickness 1.5 to 2mm. The frame is to provide a bearing width of 40 mm minimum to the facing. The panels are tied to each other according to the «Professional rules for manufacture and implementation of metallic siding,» i.e.: spacing of 1,60 m when the normal pressure (or vacuum) due to the wind does not exceed 80 dan/m². Spacing of 1.00 m when the normal pressure (or vacuum) due to the wind exceeds 80 dan/m². CONDITIONING AND TRANSPORT A delivery note is glued to each package stating: Customer order reference, Batch reference Customer name Type of product Facing thickness Bundle content (number and length) Color reference of pre-coated plates. Mascaret panels are packed on the production line. The weight of the bundles may in no case exceed 2.5 tons. Mascaret panels and their accessories are to be transported under conditions that preserve the integrity of the characteristics (shimmed up packages, carefully stacked and strapped, tarpaulin-covered trucks). ORGANISATION The PMA company is the product manufacturer and does not install the product. Mascaret panels are to be installed by constractors having the required professional qualifications.
-5- Design and studies prior to executing the facade are not incumbent on the maker PMA nor on the distributor companies. On request, PMA can provide technical assistance. The purpose of the present specification is not to give details on all points of implementation but to state the main technical definitions of the panels and their particular characteristics. To help in the study of the facades, it is complemented in the appendix with particular design suggestions and finishing elements. HANDLING, STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE Handling operations are carried out in consideration of the particular features of the products. They are to be handled vertically on edge. The panels are stored in bundles, slightly inclined in the longitudinal direction on a flat surface, without stacking more than two packags. Storage time on the work site is to be reduced to the minimum. The essential precaution consists in avoiding water from entering by runoff or condensation between the panels. Store sheltered from sunlight. Metallic facades have to be normally maintainted in accordance with the prescriptions of the Professional Rules for Metallic Siding (article 4-2-91 exterior maintenance). Although naturally cleanable by runoff of rainwater, if needed, they can be cleaned periodically with household detergent, without chlorine added, with no use of abrasive or solvent, followed by rinsing with fresh water. Mainteance notably consists of: Eliminating various vegetation (such as moss) and any incompatible matter that might be deposited on the facing surface. Repair of any localized degradation as soon as detected, such as incipient corrosion caused, for example, by exterior deterioration actions.
