1. INTRODUCTION TO THE IEMA ACORN SCHEME The Acorn Scheme is an environmental management system standard which has been officially recognised by the government. It is delivered in a series of six logical phases using the British Standard BS8555 and you decide on your time-frame for working through each phase, making it a flexible approach adaptable to the capacity of your organisation. You can engage your supply chain in environmental performance improvement which should lead to improved efficiencies, reduced costs and enhanced competitiveness. As a Corporate Member you are entitled to a work book which covers phases 1-3 to start you on your journey. These provide you with a step-by-step route to ISO 14001 certification and/or Eco-Management Audit Scheme registration. You will also receive accredited recognition and be included on the IEMA Acorn Register. 2. IEMA WEBINAR SERIES: HOW TO IMPLEMENT AN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IEMA runs a programme of over 150 webinars a year for its 15,000 members, covering a broad range of topic areas from generalist to specialist. Included in your membership is access to the IEMA EMS Webinar Series, which supports your organisation in the implementation of an Environmental Management System and keeps you up-to-date with the latest developments. This is a valuable resource that complements the Acorn Scheme and the work book. 3. ONE YEAR-LONG AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP As part of the IEMA for Business package, you can access a one year subscription for one member of your staff to join IEMA at Affiliate Membership level.
