Situated in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea on the north, Sudan in the west, Kenya in the south, Djibouti in the northeast, and Somalia in the east. The second-most populous African nation, Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world.

Ethiopia is located at the nearest distance to the lucrative meat market of the Middle East. The historical and geo-economic tie between Ethiopia and the Middle East Countries is a catalytic factor. Ethiopia

Agriculture accounts for almost 41 percent of the gross domestic product, 80 percent of exports, and 80 percent of the labour force. Many other economic activities depend on agriculture, including marketing, processing, and export of agricultural products. Production is overwhelmingly of a subsistence nature, and a large part of commodity exports are provided by the small agricultural cash-crop sector. Note: The Ethiopian investment regulations and the foreign investment incentives laws are attached in this presentation. (see file ethiopian_incentives.pdf )

Ethiopia ranks 10 th on the world livestock population and 1 st in Africa. Ethiopia's estimated livestock population of about 78.4 million. There were approximately 31 million cattle, 23.4 million sheep, l7.5 million goats, 5.5 million horses and mules, l million camels, and 57 million poultry.

The regional state of Amhara accommodates 40% of the livestock resources of Ethiopia. The Ethiopian highlands at 1800-3500 meters above sea level characterized by its cool fresh climate naturally arresting the spread of livestock diseases.

The need of food is in continuous and exponential growth due to the increase in population around the world. According to a November 2001 report by the World Bank, Livestock Development - Implications for Rural Poverty, the Environment, and Global Food Security: Total global meat demand is expected to grow from 209 million tons in 1997 to 327 million tons in 2020 (56%). Over the same period global milk consumption is expected to increase from about 422 million tons to 648 million tons (54%). It is anticipated that most of this increase will come from animals kept in intensive farms, the majority of them in the developing world.

The project will maintain a continuous annual production of 480,000 heads of sheep, 120,000 heads of beef and 120,000 heads of exotic domesticated livestock animals (Deer, Buffalo, Ostrich, etc.) raised at Planet Food World Satellites Modular Ranches distributed geographically at all the zones of the state of Amhara. The Planet Food World Satellite Ranches will supply an international market oriented livestock animals to the Planet Food World Meat Processing Industrial Complex to be built on a ground of 600,000 M2 at the HIGHLANDS of the Regional State of Amhara.
