Most of impacted trees such as eucalyptus, bamboo, coconut... are trees that it's body developing very quickly but bringing low economic value in comparison with impacted trees with small numbers such as jack-fruit,, longan, banana, guava, orange, grapefruit. All of impacted houses are lying inside ROW according to Degree 106, including 67 houses of 4-grade in which 23l houses with leaf roof and 44 houses with iron roof and concentrate mainly on Soc Trang Province (58 houses). These impacted houses are scattered through the transmission line route. Characteristic of these houses are very simple with low value. Therefore, above impacted levels are insignificant. Erosion or / Earth work items in construction are often causes of soil deposition due to erosion and deposition phenomenons. n this project, excavation/backfill construction work of pole foundation of the transmission work items line route is principle impact. Soil erosion and deposition phenomenons should impact on irrigation, drainage and water supply systems and on water quality surround pole foundation area. At each pole foundation position, volume of soil and rock uses to construct per foundation pit following: - Foundation excavation: 29, 810.10 m3 - Foundation backfill: 22,633.04 m 3 - Sand filling into foundation bottom: 1,144.75 m3 - Foundation footing backfill: 358.50 m 3 Construction will be carried out by hand. Around foundation pit, there are two drain ditches leading to sump with volume of 0.5m 3 in order to collect rainy water and ground water, and after that water is pumped out of foundation pit. Excavated soil from foundation pit is reused for foundation pit backfill and sprayed with water and compacted. n-situ excavation soil is still not satisfied for reusing requirement, shortage soil is about 10% volume. This shortage volume can be bought in-place or transported from other place..4pril, 2007 Pape 6

220k V Bac Lieu -Soc Trang Transmission Line Project - Environnent Management Plan - EMVP l soil and aluminated phenomenons around foundation pit (due to excavation and backfill soil layers are aluminated, eroded, washed out by rain or pumping water out of foundation pit). These phenomenons of aluminated, erosion l E and deposition will be strongest in rainy and flooding days. Construction pit foundation area of 64m 2-168m 2 (MB4.4-8x8: MB5.34-12x14) can cause water pollution, local deposition at foundation location with low impact level because of short construction time (about one month). Almost excavation soil is reused and compacted in order to protect from erosion, washout, especially some places is still consolidated by cement cover. Basing on surveyed drilling results to 12m in depth at some pole foundation locations, in fact content of alum in water is very low. Paddy rice is still cultivated in dry reason. Analysis results show that water quality is impacted insignificantly and locally in short duration. These impacts are disappeared after finishing construction work. Acidification of There are two types of acid sulphate soil (ASS). These are soil and water potential ASS and actual ASS. The potential ASS is soil surrounding pole containing a high content of pyrite (FeS 2 ). Normally, this foundation ASS is difficulty to plant trees, especially paddy rice. The actual ASS is potential ASS exposed to the sun and submerged in water creating high acid content. Due to high l acidity (low ph), high content of Fe, Al, and low nutrients in actual ASS is not suitable for cultivation. ASS may cause acidification for ground and surface water. Acidification may occur at some foundation pit construction locations, where pole foundation soil layers containing potential ASS or flooding foundation pit by rainy water creating good conditions to bring acid from other earth work surrounding area into pole foundation pit. Acidification water with low ph concentration can cause danger and can kill aquatic species living in rivers, canals close to foundation pit. Therefore, acidification shall be monitored during construction process, if ASS is detected, and then impact mitigation measures such as treatment by powdered lime until meeting requirement must be carried out before discharging into environment. The contractor should supply powdered lime volume sufficiently for treatment. ph degree could be test by indicator paper. The Contractor must also arrange gathering area for aluminated excavation soil to protect l l_canals, fish ponds, paddy fields from danger impacts of April, 200 7 Pape 8

220k V Bac Lieu -Soc Trang Transmission Line Project - Environnent Management Plan - EMP ASS. This ASS could be reuse for foundation pit. At present, at pole foundation pit locations, paddy rice have been being cultivated well, it show that potential ASS do not existed on surface soil layer. Basing on survey drilling results at some foundation pits. at depth of 12m. there are mainly clay and clay mud in general without ASS. Therefore, acidification will not occur. mpacts on Pole foundation pits construction of the transmission line irrigation and will impact on irrigation and drainage systems. drainage canal However, the transmission line have been designed far systems away from irrigation and drainage systems (including water supply system) with limit distance in order to prevent impacts on these systems and also to protect pole foundation from erosion due to operation of these irrigation and drainage systems. Therefore, irrigation, drainage and water supply systems will be impacted insignificant. mpacts on quality / Activities of construction machines operation, earth and air due to exhaust mixing concrete work items and toxic gas (SO 2, Nox, emission of CO... ) of vehicles, equipment discharging into air will vehicles, impact on quality air. equipment and However, the above mentioned impacts are insignificant dust from because construction volume at each foundation location is construction not very much, construction time only last about one activities month, number of vehicles is not much and foundation excavation work is mainly by manual. Most of the pole foundations (144 pole foundation locations) are all located on paddy field and scattered through length of the transmission line (46.358 kim). Construction vehicles and equipments are almost specialty types and have been licensed by specialty authorizes including license of emission level. Materials transport as sand, cement according to transport regulations must be covered in order to prevent dust and water must be showered periodically in construction area if dust is over permit standard. Basing surveyed results, soil of foundation pits at 12m in depth are mainly clay and clay mud so that could not cause dust much.
