GENERAL NOTES :. The structural design of these Glass Flood Shields is generic and has been designed for hydrostatic hydrodynamic and impact debris flood loads with water pressures corresponding to 8'-0" maximum and or site specific water height and flow speed of ft/sec. up to 8 ft/sec. in order to certify minimum required flood elevation to top of Flood Shields.. It shall be determined, on a job by job basis, the required Flood height and flow speed for the design of Flood Shields, based on FEMA's criteria (See Note #) as well as per ASE 7-0 Standard. Installation and construction of these Flood Shields for use within flood hazard areas shall be in accordance with the American Society of ivil Engineers Flood Resistant Design and onstruction Standard SEI/ASE 7-0.. Design criteria has been based on FEMA flood proofing non-residential structures manual FEMA 0, and FEMA Technical Bulletin -9. Design flood loads have been determined in accordance with Section 6. of ASE / 7-0.. Requirements for Glass Flood barriers, terminology, tolerances, standards of performance and workmanship are similar to those specified as Type closures in hapter 7, Sec. 70.. of the US Army orps of Engineers 'Flood Proofing Regulations'. These Type Flood losures/barriers will allow 'Slight Seepage' during hydrodynamic and hydrostatic pressure flood conditions. This should be addressed by the design professionals and usage of sump or bilge type pumps.. Shields are only installed on a "X" or "AE" Flood Zone. This condition shall be verified and this engineer shall be notified if not compiled with. 6. Flood Shields shall not be installed within areas where ice flows or ice jams occur. 7. Flood Shield manufacturer to install and use gaskets and approved sealants following all the recommendations and specifications of the manufacturers respectively. 8. General ontractor shall verify all dimensions, wall and floor conditions at site before proceeding with the work, and shall notify this engineer if any discrepancy is found that would alter the structural design of these Flood Shields. 9. Existing slabs and walls adjacent to opening must be capable of support before flood shield is installed. Surface must be smooth, square, plumb and level. 0. Existing slabs and walls adjacent to openings where Flood Shields are installed shall be structurally designed by engineer of record, to sustain the same hydrostatic, hydrodynamic and impact pressures that correspond to maximum water elevation above finished floor at top of Shield, based on criteria mentioned in Note #.. Drop-in and calk-in anchors embedded into concrete shall be stainless steel.. Separation of Shield to window/door shall be measured from back of Shield to window/door including any knob, handle, or protruding device, and shall be " minimum.. All aluminum extrusions to be 606-T6 alloy, except that "x"x/" and top tubes shall be 606-T6 alloy.. All sheet metal screws shall be as manufactured by ITW/Buildex "TEK Screws", and to be made of stainless st.. All bolts to be ASTM A-07 designation or 0 Series Stainless Steel. 6. All aluminum skin to be 0-H or 00-H alloy. 7. Screws and anchors' heads shall be fully covered with Elastomeric Sealant Paint as "Roof Mastic" or equal, or be of water resistant design (rubber washers). All silicone sealants to be Dow 99 or equal type. 8. All gaskets installed shall be ½" thick dense 0 durometer rubber. 9. All welding to conform to the American Welding Society AWS.. 998 Regulations. Use certified welders. Use ER-6 Electrodes. 0. The engineer is not responsible for construction safety at site which is the Flood Shield Manufacturer's responsibility. Flood Shield Manufacturer to be responsible for providing the tenant with proper instructions for the installation of these Flood Shields.. These drawings are generic in nature but may (if required) be supported by application specific engineering. The supporting engineering may dictate some changes which will be reflected on the final "application specific" drawings, for a specific project..
