Sustainable examples Sustainability Fully recyclable steel We understand the cradle-to-cradle concept, because our European steel is fully recycled. All scrap metal from a previous lifecycle is completely recycled without any degradation of the steel. Moreover, 45% of the steel purchased has already been recycled. Other materials are carefully selected. Design columns combined with timber contain FSC-certified timber for instance. with care DCC-coating: a CO2-free application Kaal Masten has set the standard with the introduction of the DCC-Coating: a sustaina ble coating with a CO2-free application. The long technical lifespan is of even greater importance. In short, DCC reduces both maintenance and the related costs of your columns signi ficantly. Recyclable column foundations Another focus point of Kaal Masten is the recycling of our tube pile foundation for our columns. This is a sustainable foundation that may be removed from the ground if a column is no longer required. Subsequently, the foundation can be recycled. Both the concrete foundation and the disposal of the concrete are no longer necessary! With just our Multi Purpose Truck we transport the column and the foundation tube, we vibrate the foundation tube in to the ground at high frequency and we place the column. By applying this concept, Kaal Masten can realize minimal deployment of equipment and manpower. Moreover, costs are saved and we save our environment; a win-win situation for our customer. HMR Surface level protection Sustainability is an essential characteristic of HMR. With this protection the lifespan of your column is extended significantly. In addition, the product is 100% recyclable and fully cradleto-cradle. Climate neutral columns As a CO2 Neutral manufacturer, we guarantee the sustainability of our products. However, even with a sustainable material such as steel, a certain amount of CO2 emission is inevitable. This is why Kaal Masten takes its responsibility for the entire chain; from raw material to finished product. This means that we can offer all of our steel columns as climate neutral. Gold Standard label Gold Standard projects reduce CO2 through clean energy. In addition to the environmental benefits, these projects contribute to sustainable development and socio-economic progress of the local population. The Gold Standard quality label is recommended by a large number of Non-governmental organizations. For example, the World Wildlife Fund recommends this independent label, since it meets the strictest criteria. Sustainability Compensation project: wind farms Kaal Masten has consciously chosen one of the first Gold Standard projects in the world. The project covers two wind farms in Taiwan. 110.000 households are provided with clean energy, due to our investment. Thanks to this project, the air quality is improved, reducing the risk of illness. As a result of this Gold Standard project, additional employment is created for the local population. Sustainable production The intention of the company is focused on energy efficient production methods and harming the environment as little as possible. In order to achieve this goal, we should make everyone within the company aware of the fact that we use materials, resources and energy carefully. This awareness is not only necessary in production, but in the office as well. Use of green electricity is only the beginning. Insight into our carbon footprint has led to the realization of solid sustainability measures throughout the corporate process. Knowledge Commitment Safety Socially involved Care of people Kaal Masten does not lose sight of people. As an employer, we provide a pleasant and challenging work environment. We are known as a training environment. Our employees are offered courses to allow them to further develop themselves. Many trainees have been offered the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills here. In the factory alone, Kaal Masten creates 15 to 20 traineeships each year. Moreover, career counselling and job rotation are possible at Kaal Masten. Kaal Masten aims for the optimization of processes. Mainly in the production process, manual labour is reduced to a minimum, helping us to be more efficient. In order to further realize commitment among the employees, various corporate activities and trips are organized. Ensuring safety In the field of environment and safety, Kaal Masten is an example to many other production companies. In addition to the strict environmental requirements Kaal Masten meets, great attention is paid to the work environment in the factory. Of course, safety courses are mandatory for our employees. In order to make the working conditions as safe and comfortable as possible, overhead cranes are used. For optimal working conditions, an exhaust is installed throughout the factory. Due to this, virtually all welding fumes and particulate matter are extracted from the air. Moreover, welders have an extra individual air filter system. Kaal Masten makes working conditions better for her production staff as much as possible. By deploying welding manipulators, the employees are able to rotate the tubes during welding, allowing for ergonomic and comfortable welding. This also safeguards the quality of the column. Of course, Kaal Masten also cares about safety in the public area. The product line of sustainable, passively safe columns, demonstrates our care in this field. In addition, our camera- and lighting columns provide an invisible contribution to safety in the public area.
