INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION ICRP develops the System of Radiological Protection for the public benefit. The System takes account of the latest scientific knowledge, ethical values, and practical experience. It is the basis of standards, legislation, guidance, programmes, and practice worldwide. The objective of the System is to contribute to an appropriate level of protection for people and the environment against the harmful effects of radiation exposure without unduly limiting the individual or societal benefits of activities involving radiation. Members come from over 30 countries and all disciplines relevant to radiological protection. They are invited to join ICRP as independent experts on a volunteer basis for four-year terms.

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES Maintain and Continue to Improve the System of Radiological Protection Promote Awareness of Radiological Protection and Broaden Access to ICRP Recommendations Increase Engagement with Professionals, Policy-Makers, and the Public ETHICAL CONDUCT In carrying out its work, ICRP is: Committed to public benefit Independent of governments and organisations, including industry and other users of radiation Impartial in its development of recommendations Transparent in its actions and judgements Accountable to the framework that governs the activities of a charity

STRATEGIC PRIORITY Maintain and Continue to Improve the System of Radiological Protection The System is the basis of radiological protection worldwide. To maintain and continue to improve the quality, relevance, and timeliness of its recommendations, ICRP will: Review and assess science, values, and experience when producing recommendations Evaluate radiological protection needs related to emerging technologies that use ionising radiation Identify and encourage research needed to support radiological protection Strengthen logistical and financial support for its expert groups who examine emerging issues and develop recommendations and reference data, such as dose coefficients

STRATEGIC PRIORITY Promote Awareness of Radiological Protection and Broaden Access to ICRP Recommendations ICRP recommendations are widely recognised. To further promote awareness of the System of Radiological Protection and broaden access to its recommendations, ICRP will: Provide publications at low or no cost Improve user-friendliness of publications, e.g. through plainlanguage summaries Promote education and training in radiological protection and related fields Increase outreach worldwide, with special attention to: The medical sector and health care professionals Affected populations Under-served regions of the world

STRATEGIC PRIORITY Increase Engagement with Professionals, Policy-Makers, and the Public Independence does not mean isolation. To increase engagement within and beyond the radiological protection community, ICRP will: Expand relations with other organisations while improving the effectiveness and efficiency of collaboration Engage more actively through ICRP symposia and other events Increase direct interactions with user groups Use social media to share the System of Radiological Protection and the activities of ICRP
