We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions. We work in Africa and Asia with communities, governments, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure effective delivery of services, which are supported by strong evidence. behaviour change communication national and international advocacy and policy development Country and project background Malaria Consortium South Sudan has its main office in Juba and a sub office in Aweil, Northern Bar el Ghazel. In the FY2016, South Sudan had an annual programme value of nearly $5M and 100 staff members. Its programme areas include iccm, nutrition for children under five years of age, and health systems management. Malaria Consortium has previously engaged in the control of neglected tropical diseases and expects to rebuild this portfolio. Job purpose The Country Director is responsible for providing strategic, programmatic, business development, financial and management support to ensure the success of the Malaria Consortium South Sudan programme. Key working relationships Internal working relationships include all staff within the South Sudan Programme, the Africa Technical Director, Africa Programmes Director and other technical and programme management and business development staff in the Kampala-based regional office and London-based home office. External relationships include those within the South Sudan Ministry of Health, Country Coordinating Mechanism, Heads of other INGOs, and development partners funding in South Sudan. Key accountabilities (percent of time spent on each area) Representation and Coordination (15%) Provide high level representation (directly or through designated technical staff), particularly at key governmental meetings as well as at donor, UN and NGO coordination fora Act as principal liaison for Malaria Consortium with the government and donor agencies on programming and contractual matters Expand Malaria Consortium s partnerships with MoH/National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP), INGOs, UN organisations, and civil society organisations Lead in-country media relations, effectively raising the profile of Malaria Consortium and ensuring that external communication is in line with our mission and objectives and supports safety and security for staff, partners and beneficiaries of our work in-country Establish effective linkages between Malaria Consortium South Sudan and the other Malaria Consortium country offices and the UK office, including support to advocacy/global policy activities and wider sharing of experiences or collaborations in line with Malaria Consortium s global strategy Delivery of High Quality Programmes (15%) Develop, cost, monitor and report on monthly, quarterly and annual work plans, budgets and quarterly project reviews for delivery of high quality programmes Ensure performance of sub-award agreements with the Ministry of Health Actively oversee management of project budget, including compliance with established cost categories, monthly review and correction of transaction list, analysis of monthly budget versus actual reports and quarterly financial forecasting.
