Dimensional Stability Class DS(70,90)3 EN 1604 Storage Storage Conditions The packaging of Sikatherm PIR GT shall not be considered adequate for long term outside protection. Ideally, boards shall be stored inside a building. If however, outside storage cannot be avoided the boards shall be stacked clear of the ground and covered with a polythene sheet or weatherproof tarpaulin. Boards that have been allowed to get wet must not be used. System Information System Structure Ancillary products and system components according to local price list. Application Details Substrate Quality The substrate surface must be uniform, smooth and free of any sharp protrusions or burrs, etc. It shall be clean, dry and free of grease and dust. Application Conditions / Limits Temperature Compatibility Limited to appropriate roof waterproofing membrane system temperature limitations. Please observe information given by Product Data Sheets. Sikatherm PIR GT is compatible with FPO and PVC single ply membranes Sikaplan / Sarnafil. No additional separation layer is required, when Sikaplan / Sarnafil is applied over the board surface, faced with a glass tissue. Direct contact between the board core and single ply PVC membranes must be avoided. Sikatherm PIR GT 3/5
Installation Instructions Installation Method / Tools Installation procedure: Sikatherm PIR GT shall be laid over vapour control layer. Sikatherm PIR GT must be attached to the substrate with one of following methods: Fixing Method: The number of mechanical fixings required to fix Sikatherm PIR GT will vary with the geographical location of the building, the local topography and the height and width of the roof concerned along with the deck type. A minimum of 6 fixings are required to secure a 2.4 x 1.2 m insulation board to the deck and a minimum of 4 fixings are required to secure a 1.2 x 0.6 m insulation board to the deck. The requirement for additional fixings shall be assessed in accordance with local national norms and standards. Mechanical fixings must be arranged in an even pattern. Fasteners at board edges must be located >50 mm and <150 mm from edges and corners of the board. Each fixing should incorporate a square or circular plate washer (minimum 50 mm x 50 mm or 50 mm diameter) The requirements for securing the waterproofing membrane shall be considered separately Bonding Method: Sikatherm PIR GT can also be attached to the substrate with Sarnacol 2162 or Sikalastic Coldstick adhesives. In central zones apply 4 continuous beads of adhesive per meter in parallel straight lines with a liquid bead width of 10 20 mm (100 300 g/m 2 ). In perimeter zones apply 6 continuous beads of adhesive per meter with a liquid bead width of 10 20 mm (150 500 g/m 2 ). Do not apply more adhesive than can be covered in 5 minutes. The insulation boards must be laid and pressed into the adhesive beads before skin formation. When bonding insulation boards it is recommended that periodic checks are carried out to check that the adhesive ridges have been squeezed flat. Do this by lifting the insulation material at the leading edge. This is especially important on very uneven substrates. For more detailed information please refer to respective adhesive product data sheets. Notes on Installation / Limits Installation works to be carried out only by Sika instructed contractors for roofing. Temperature limits will depend on waterproofing membrane installation limits. Use of some ancillary products, e.g. adhesives is limited to temperatures above +5 C. Please observe information given by Product Data Sheets. Sikatherm PIR GT 4/5
