Right People Challenge: Accurately and Efficiently Executing Corporate Strategies at the Store While Providing a Superior Customer Experience For sustained success, retailers must profitably connect consumers with desired merchandise. This requires flawless planning and execution, and winning retailers are realizing their corporate goals by bringing together the best people, processes and technologies. These three entities must come together where it impacts customers most at the store level. However, even the world s leading retailers must overcome operational obstacles each day: People: A retailer s greatest asset and competitive differentiator is its workforce. While similar products can be found from chain to chain, it is each store s associates who directly influence the customer experience. Yet associates still come to work each day without the skills and knowledge to perform effectively or deliver superior service. Processes: Ideally, stores should act as the execution arm for corporate strategies. Instead, miscommunications with headquarters too often lead to lost sales and profits. Frustrations with store-level task compliance also abound as new merchandise is left boxed in the back office instead of presented on the sales floor. And prices ringing up at the register may not always match those displayed on the shelf. Technologies: Store associates are pressured to meet the evolving expectations of multi-channel shoppers. In addition to speedy checkouts, expanded services and secure payment options, today s consumers expect associates to have visibility into past purchases, inventory searches, loyalty points and product details. Success is difficult when too many stores are still utilizing paper-based processes, proprietary systems and non-integrated applications. [ JDA s Store Systems solution] has vastly improved our customers perception of our technology. It s simpler and easier to operate which makes cashier training much faster. Plus, there s no question that the application has reduced our transaction time for customers.
