Product Data: Submit manufacturer s product data, including surface preparation and installation instructions. Specifier Notes: Green building rating systems often include credit for materials of recycled content. USGBC-LEED includes credit for materials with recycled content, calculated on the basis of preconsumer and post-consumer percentage content, and it included credit for use of salvages/recovered materials. Green Globes also provides points for reused building materials and components and for building materials with recycled content. 1. Recycled Content: a. Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content per unit of product. b. Indicate relative dollar value of recycled content product to total dollar value of product included in project. c. If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage of recycled content product in the assembly by weight. C. Samples: Submit manufacturer s samples of each pattern and color of wall coverings specified, minimum 8 inches by 10 inches. Specifier Notes: Delete samples if not required. D. Manufacturer s Certification: Submit manufacturer s certification that materials comply with specified requirements and are suitable for intended application. E. Specifier Notes: Edit pre-installation meeting as required. Delete meeting if not required. C. Pre-installation Meeting: 1. Convene pre-installation meeting before start of installation of wall coverings. 2. Require attendance of parties directly affecting work of this section, including Contractor, Architect, installer, and manufacturer s representative. 3. Review surface preparation, testing for and eliminating sources of moisture accumulation into walls, installation, cleaning, protection, and coordination with other work. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Delivery and Acceptance Requirements: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer s original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer. B. Storage and Handling Requirements: 1. Store and handle materials in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. 2. Keep materials in manufacturer s original, unopened containers and packaging until installation. 3. Store materials in clean, dry area indoors, out of direct sunlight. 4. Keep wall coverings clean and dry. 5. Store materials at normal occupied building temperature and humidity for a minimum of 3 days before installation. 1.6 AMBIENT CONDITIONS A. Rooms to Receive Wall Coverings: Weather tight with HVAC settings, including pressure, temperature, and relative humidity, the same as those of occupied building for 3 days before installation, throughout installation, and for 3 days after installation of wall coverings. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Wallcovering Type: Type II, vinyl coated (recycled) nonwoven fabric backed wallcovering 3. Finished Width: 54 inches. 4. Inks: a. Water based. Specifier Notes: Green building rating systems often include credit for materials of recycled content and may distinguish allowable credit for post-consumer and post-industrial (or pre-consumer) recycled content. USGBC-LEED v2.2, for example, factors 100 percent of post-consumer recycled content but only 50% of pre-consumer (post-industrial) recycled content into calculations for its recycled content materials credit. LEED v2.2 grants one credit to a project for using materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content constitutes at least 10 percent of the total value of the materials in the project; 10% (post-consumer + ½ postindustrial). It grants an additional point for 20% (post-consumer + ½ post-industrial). Green Globes also provides points for reused building materials and components and for building materials with recycled content. 5. Recycled Content: minimum 30% recycled content including a minimum of 20% postconsumer. 6. Recyclable: Post-consumer recyclable through manufacturer reclamation program. 7. Certifications: a.
