What Is A Niche Market? Now we need to look at Niche markets in Eve online so what is a niche market? A niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing on; Therefore the market niche defines the specific product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics that is intending to impact. Basically a niche market is a part of the market which is targeted by marketers because it is a profitable part of the market and in this case the Eve online market, which is a vast one with many good niches for us to specialize in to make millions of ISK. Some niche markets in Eve have way to much competition to actually make a decent profit from like tech I ships for example. So what we are going to learn about is how to find niche markets in Eve, How to use them to make ISK in Eve and lastly my niche markets in Eve which I am going to give you as a thank you for buying this guide. Researching the market is very important for finding niche markets, buying low and selling high works in Eve if you have done your research and know you can make a profit but by finding niche markets you are taking away the guess work and are nine times out of ten going to make massive profits.
Finding Niche Markets in Eve There are many places to trade in Eve and each one will have different niche markets with different profits margins. I like to trade in Jita, I know a lot of people trade here making it very competitive but finding a small niche market in such a huge market place I can make more profit and ISK than I would in a smaller markets niche. To find niche markets you need to start by researching niches in the market, so separate items that you can specialize in for an amount of time. One problem you will find is that I am not the only Eve player that knows these marketing tricks so eventually someone will move in on your niche market. Now this is not a major problem but it is likely to hurt your profit margin. Ok now some examples of finding a niche market. These examples are going to be brief but I will go in to more detail after. Please open the 6 months graph for the Gremlin Rocket in your Eve online client. Now at the beginning of the graph you should notice a massive spike, this means the price fluctuates which is great. Imagine if you purchased as many units as you could then sold them at the peak! Just think at how much ISK you would make. The Gremlin Rocket is one of my niche markets and has proven very profitable but lately it has become more competitive. This is an example of a profitable and good niche market.
Now please open the 6 month graph for the Antimatter Charge M Right away you can see that this is not a great niche market to be in since people are buying and selling them for roughly the same price at a constant price flow. It does not matter how much ISK you put in to this, you will never make much profit even with great trading skills. This is an example of a poor niche market with profit margins similar to mass markets. Now we are going to look into more detail at reading these graphs accurately. What we are looking for is a huge spike s in graph as this represents fluctuation, which is important for making large profits. Items that have constant price flow in the graphs are considered mass market goods and are not worth your time or investment. Now in more detail: The yellow squares are Median Day price which is the average price that the item was sold for that day. The light green bars at the bottom of the items price history show you how many units of that item were sold that day, this is also very important since you don t want a load of items which no one wants to buy. If you prefer, you can read the information in the form of a table by clicking show table. You can also use these tables and graphs to find niches that are not competitive. You will see that as the price peaks the amount of items sold that day lowers which is naturally but is also a sign of the niche being not so competitive which is good for you in vice versa when the most amount units is being sold in one day this is the time to buy or invest since the price is at its lowest.
What Players Want (Supply And Demand) When looking for niche markets it is also important to know what players want. There are different types of players which are going to pay different prices for different goods. This is because some of them are willing to pay higher prices to specialize in whatever they want to do in game. Let s look at some common player types: Average Player: The average player is generally looking for small tech I ships and mining barges as well as tech I munitions. For modules they will normally be looking for tech I drone s. Novice Industrial Players: Small time industrials will be looking for you guessed it a mining barge most commonly a covetor, now with this they are going to need tech I mining crystals and tech I mining lasers and drones. Expert Industrial Players: Larger mining barges mainly Hulks also they will be looking for tech II mining lasers, drones and crystals. Novice PvP Player: These players generally need small race related tech I ships, they will also pay lots of ISK for tech I munitions and modules such as drones. Expert PvP Player: This player type will be looking for tech II race related ships and other tech II equipment such as weapons, munitions and modules.
Where to Start Everyone needs to find a place to start the journey of becoming an Eve Billionaire and finding a good place to start so you do not mess up straight away and lose a load of ISK is important. This is why I am going to suggest a place for you to start since the idea of Eve Billionaire is to make your ISK not lose your ISK. Munitions are where I started and where you should start too. So what makes munitions a good place to start trading, well it is because some of the low end items are very cheap to buy but still if sold at the right times can bring in tidy profits also there is always a healthy demand for these items. Starting here you will not be risking or spending or making hundreds of millions, more like hundreds of thousands. Once to learn the techniques from Eve Billionaire and have really nailed it you will be able to start trading other items without risk and these items can go from huge prices where you will be dealing with hundreds of millions. Please make sure you browse though our trade skills guide to learn how acquiring the right skills can lower your trading costs. As we said before you are going to need some ISK to make ISK you can start very small but you need some capital or you will not be able to even get started trading. So at the start you going to need to pull up the 6 month or if you prefer yearly graphs for some of the cheap munitions on the market. Now start estimating which of them is going to be a good niche, you can tell this by looking of the graphs are stable or fluctuating. Stable items are a sign of competition don t forget this. The fluctuating ones are potential niches where the prices can change drastically.
This part can be tricky since stable graphs show that there is 100% demand for that item and whatever you buy will sell, where the fluctuating ones can be risky since these items may not always be needed. Right now you are going to need to be looking at the graphs in table form since it is easier to see potential markets to invest in. One good tactic for finding niches quick is by leaving the table option open and looking down the list for different markets to invest in. You will find that are lots of markets within the categories some which are niche markets and good for beginners would be in within ammunitions and charges: These for example: Missiles, Probes, Hybrid Charges, Freq Crystals, Projectile Ammo, These are just a few of the good niche markets to be invested in. Now an example: Let s look at Hybrid Charges for example let s say it only has 6 buy orders for the highest price of 1205 and selling for 14,894 which is 2.22% above average. Which gives you a profit of 13,689 per item which may not sound like a massive profit but if you are in the ISK position to buy tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands then you are going to make large profits. For example of you had 10,000 units sold you would make nearly 150,000,000 million ISK which is a nice amount for starters. Hybrid charges are just one niche
market and is currently untapped think of the potential profits when you have your fingers in many pies. Remember the ISK is where the trade is so hang their, Jita is a great station with a vast market of opportunities. My Niche Markets Here s the part where I am going to give away some of my most profitable niche markets to you, Not all of them since I feel that part of becoming a Eve Billionaire is learning and finding your own niche markets. You will feel a sense of accomplishment when you find your good niche market and it almost becomes addictive. I would like to see some of your competing with me someday soon in my secret niche markets which you should all be able to find after you master the technique we have talked about here. My Niche Markets: Scan Resolution, Scan Resolution Dampening, Target Range, Target Range Dampening, Tracking Speed, Tracking Speed Disruption, Optimal Range, Optimal Range Disruption, Focused Warp Disruption, Scan Probe Launchers,
These are all niche markets that I use this is because I find them to have decent demand but at the same time decent changes in price over a predictable time frame. I know from looking at the 6 month or even 3 month graphs and charts when to buy large amounts of these items and also when I need to make orders to sell the stockpile and it does work I make Billions on these alone. Conclusion Remember to always start small by buying say a couple of hundred units, the niche markets above at this time are very profitable and are not too competitive which is allowing me to make large profits but remember every little helps providing you are making a profit you are doing something right. Trade skills are vital to making such large profits so make sure you train them as fast as possible using our trade skills guide. At first the benefits of having these skills at high levels won t show since you are dealing in such small numbers of units but when you are buying and selling hundreds of thousands of units they really will pay back the cost of getting them and allow you to make much larger profits and compete in markets better. Another great secret strategy of mine is looking at the patch notes, Whenever CCP patch eve online and make a new addition as in a form of item you can buy and sell, This is a great niche to quickly get into and set up shop, Remember you have to be very quick since a fair amount of people I bet are already doing this.
