The KAEFER Academy Developing excellence, worldwide Specific and universal Personal focus for company growth KAEFER is the world s largest independent provider of complete insulation solutions. KAEFER s core business is carried out in its Industry, Offshore, Shipbuilding, Construction and Aerospace divisions. Headquartered in Bremen, Germany, the company has operations in over 50 countries, with a current workforce of over 17,000. Our success as a company depends on the quality of the work we do for our clients. And that depends on ensuring that we are represented at all times by highly trained, qualified and motivated professionals who observe common standards and values, across boundaries and cultures. One way in which we achieve this is through the KAEFER Academy, which draws on all our know-how and experience to deliver outstanding technical, professional and leadership programmes. All KAEFER Academy programmes are adapted to the unique demands of our industry, whilst reflecting universal principles of quality and service. They all instill the KAEFER leadership principles. And they all prepare our employees for an involving and satisfying working life at the cutting edge of modern industrial technology and management. By nurturing the personal and professional development of employees, the KAEFER Academy provides practical answers to our business needs. This, in turn, supports the company s development and growth by ensuring high-quality delivery to our clients. In short, it s the farsighted way to ensure that KAEFER stands out by delivering the most professional complete insulation solutions worldwide. Academy partners All KAEFER Academy programmes are developed in cooperation with a number of internal and external experts and relevant partners. Their contribution helps us to deliver globally accepted, best-practice employee development methodologies across a wide range of professional and managerial disciplines, tailored to KAEFER s needs. Professional Development Programmes KAEFER international trainee programmes (KITE and LNG) LNG: 12-month international technical trainee programme Laying the foundations for excellence A key function of the KAEFER Academy is to give new employees the best possible preparation for their role in this important industry. Technical trainees therefore receive international on and off-the-job training at our headquarters and other KAEFER locations. After completing these detailed and tailored programmes, new employees are equipped to add real value for clients from their first day on-site. At the core of this training capability are two programmes KITE and LNG. The LNG (liquified natural gas) programme covers insulation training for cryogenic insulation applications. This aspect of insulation is increasing in volume and importance worldwide and requires highly specialised instruction. Intensive technical training alternates with on-site project phases and prepares trainees for the execution of major LNG projects worldwide. KITE: 18-month international technical trainee programme The KITE (KAEFER International Training for Engineers) programme combines technical instruction with extensive international practical training, on-site experience and office work. It involves an introduction to the technical basics of insulation followed by instruction in all relevant engineering techniques, as well as many aspects of project management.

Project Management Qualification (PMQ) Outstanding project management from conception to completion As projects around the world become larger and more complex, high-quality project management becomes ever more crucial. And, ultimately, only outstanding project management will help our clients to meet their objectives, so that KAEFER remains at the forefront of the insulation business. The KAEFER Project Management Qualification programme was therefore established to instill the principles of optimised project management from preparation and planning to final delivery. The programme aims to raise the standards of all project managers and project team members. It also stresses the importance of seamless cooperation, not only between different KAEFER units but also in terms of KAEFER s interaction with client structures. Customized and widespread The programme comprises three qualification levels. It is highly customized to the specific needs of the global KAEFER group as well as to local needs and laws. Training is currently underway in several countries and the number of participating project or site managers is steadily growing. Further countries are expected to join soon. Approved by the PMI In 2009, the KAEFER Academy became an official training provider (Registered Education Provider) accredited by the internationally renowned Project Management Institute (PMI ). This guarantees challenging, high-level training content. Leadership Development Programmes Developing talent At KAEFER, we want all our employees to reach their full potential to feel challenged and in control of their career while playing a key role in the company s destiny. To this end, the KAEFER Academy operates a wide range of carefully structured professional and leadership development programmes. These programmes form a systematic management development approach that supports our managers at all (hierarchy) levels in their daily operational tasks, in line with the KAEFER leadership values. > Act as a leader > Be entrepreneurial There are four international KAEFER Development Programmes and participants are selected on the basis of their performance, skills and ambition. All programmes run for a period of 12 months, with 15 participants meeting at 4 seminar modules. Between the modules, participants work on KAEFER specific projects, thereby promoting the strengthening of relationships across KAEFER s global network. > Promote common spirit > Live your values

Junior Leadership Programme (JLP) Advanced Management Programme (AMP) Nurturing young talent The KAEFER JLP is aimed at members of our junior management staff who are eager to grasp future management tasks and assume broader responsibility. It acknowledges their commitment and strengthens their relationship with the company. Team leadership is central to the JLP, with participants developing and practicing all fundamental leadership competencies. Internationality is key as open-minded young employees exchange experiences and knowledge from around the world, strengthening their international network. Moving on up The KAEFER AMP is the second level of our systematic management development approach. Senior managers from a wide range of professional backgrounds work together on the very practical topics of managing a department. The course is conducted by an external trainer and supported by a KAEFER executive who is expert in this subject. Other KAEFER Executives act as internal speakers on specific topics. Questions of leadership, process optimization, cost control and daily operation business challenges are addressed. Participants consult with, and learn from, each other in a supportive atmosphere. The strengthening of the international network and the sharing of international experiences are further important outcomes.

Executive Development Programme (EDP) Top Management Programme (TMP) Strengthening powerful leaders The third pillar of KAEFER s internal systematic leadership development approach is the international EDP, delivered in conjunction with the triple accredited Henley Business School near London. It is designed for the Managing Director level within KAEFER and its affiliates as well as holders of key functions who are willing and able to assume greater responsibility. The programme s core topic is the management of a KAEFER company. As such, it examines aspects such as the implementation of strategy in line with local sensitivities, organizational change, key financials and business planning and leadership skills. As the international group interacts, it fosters creative thinking and helps senior professionals to navigate more confidently in the complex global environment. This process will help to create a strong international network of managers, based on communication, trust and co-operation. A vision for leadership This is the highest level of KAEFER s leadership development approach, also delivered in conjunction with the triple accredited Henley Business School. KAEFER Top Managers, Regional and Area Directors and nominated key contributors are personally invited to join this programme. Targeted at the complete KAEFER Group, these managers work on the process of implementing the KAEFER Group vision. Company strategy, necessary change processes, and aspects of leadership and selfawareness are all elements of the programme. Participants develop a sense of mutual trust, respect and understanding, and the international network is enriched and strengthened.
