1 Associate, Social Enterprise Capital Deployment RSF Social Finance hh Location: San Francisco, California Search conducted by:

RSF Social Finance I Associate, Social Enterprise Capital Developement The Organization RSF Social Finance (RSF) is a pioneering non-profit financial services organization dedicated to transforming the way the world works with money. In partnership with a community of investors and donors, RSF provides values-aligned capital to non-profit and for-profit social enterprises addressing key issues in the areas of Food & Agriculture, Education & the Arts, and Ecological Stewardship. Founded in 1936 as the Rudolf Steiner Foundation, RSF Social Finance began making loans to non-profit Steiner-inspired organizations in 1984. Beginning in the early 2000s, RSF began making loans to for-profit social enterprises whose intentions and values are compatible with RSF s mission. For over 30 years, RSF has consistently provided a positive return on investment for its investor clients. Today, RSF offers investing, lending, and giving services to individuals and enterprises committed to improving society and the environment. Every decision RSF makes is based on long-term relationships, not short-term outcomes.

3 The Social Enterprise Lending Team RSF Social Finance offers financial services with the intention of fostering community and collaboration among participants and generating positive social and environmental impact. Since 1984, RSF has made over $275 million in loans, and is the leading lender for social enterprises that seek a mission-aligned financing partner. The Social Enterprise Lending Program covers mortgage, construction, and equipment loans, as well as lines of credit. The loan fund is made possible by over 1,500 investors (both retail and accredited) who comprise a community committed to changing the way the world works with money. RSF works with non-profit and for-profit social enterprises that have a deep intention to use their economic activity toward broad public benefit and to advocate for change in their fields. RSF works with organizations incorporated in the U.S. or Canada with annual revenue above $1 million; loans generally range from $200,000 to $5 million. The Opportunity RSF Social Finance is a pioneer operating at the nexus of social good and capital markets. It is a leading advocate and partner for entrepreneurs who are scaling their work and impact, and believes that individuals and organizations are best served by direct, transparent, personal, and long-term relationships. Senior-secured lending, along with management of philanthropic funds, remain at the core of RSF s work, and the Associate will contribute to an exciting and growing initiative at RSF to design nimble, creative funding approaches for social enterprises that rely on more flexible and diverse forms of capital. The strategic shift towards integrated capital deployment will coordinate the use of different forms of capital for RSF s clients, including grants, equity investments, loans, loan guarantees, introductions, mentoring, and other structures to support social enterprises.

Thrive Washington Chief Executive Officer RSF Social Finance I Associate, Social Enterprise Capital Developement The Opportunity RSF brings its values into practice with the view that finance is an essential driver for social change one that can build healthy, sustainable economies and communities. The Associate will be part of this unique and inclusive culture that fosters professional and personal development while tying together work and community in a deeply genuine way. Key Responsibilities The Associate will be joining a professional, mission-driven team, and will help advance the organization s goals to provide critical access to capital for path-breaking social enterprises. Along with fellow Associates in the Social Enterprise Lending group, this position will provide direct support to Managers and their portfolios, which will include the cultivation of prospective borrowers and the stewardship of existing borrower relationships. Portfolio management responsibilities include preparing initial loan term sheets and credit memoranda as well as coordinating hand offs to RSF s underwriting team in order to ensure that loan terms and conditions are consistent for loan approval. This position will also work with RSF s underwriting team to undertake annual and quarterly review processes for existing loans. In coordination with other Associates, this role will process borrower disbursement requests, file borrower compliance information, and draft borrowing base certificates when needed, as well as coordinate portfolio reporting and database management. The Associate will support business development activities and relationship management strategies for the portfolio. Since this position can often be the first point of contact for incoming inquiries, and the primary point of contact for existing borrowers, the Associate will help build and maintain effective client relationships. This includes performing an initial evaluation of potential borrowers by assessing fit with RSF s lending criteria, business model viability, and general financial strength as well as conducting site visits as needed. This position also supports Managers in the preparation of the initial credit package for transition to the underwriting process, including collecting due diligence information, mission alignment research, and preliminary financial analysis.

Ideal Candidate RSF Social Finance is seeking an Associate with a minimum of two years of experience in financial services and/or philanthropy, which includes a general understanding of financial statement review and analysis as well as basic credit analysis skills. A deep and genuine connection to the social sector, either through professional endeavors or personal pursuits, including volunteer activities, is a must. Candidates must also bring a readiness to understand how social enterprise organizations operate, especially in terms of the catalytic change levers they pursue to achieve impact. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be highly flexible and adaptive to change someone who is comfortable living with complexity and ambiguity. The Associate must be selfdirected and comfortable working independently as well as within teams, and will bring a collaborative disposition in order to proactively work across the organization in a distributed fashion. RSF operates with a fairly flat hierarchy and the successful candidate will be an accessible and participatory team member within this structure. A key responsibility for the Social Enterprise Lending team is new business development. As such, the Associate will enjoy building relationships and networks that go beyond surface-level interactions, including the ability to anticipate client needs and proactively address them. Candidates must be able to conduct research and analyze business opportunities and market trends. An unimpeachable sense of integrity and discretion is essential for the role. The Associate must exhibit mutual respect and trust, and be an authentic communicator with internal and external audiences. Strong written and oral communication skills are therefore necessary, including the ability to draft credit memoranda as well as articulate RSF s lending philosophy and loan products. Project management skills are essential for the success of this role. The ability to travel to conferences or to conduct site visits is necessary. An undergraduate degree is required, ideally in business, finance, or a related field. A basic understanding of non-profit and for-profit accounting is highly desirable.
