HELIOSTAR 252, 218 HORIZONTAL, FREE INSTALLATION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ENERGY AND SANITARY SYSTEMS
Installation requirements General requirements The free-standing installation set is to be used for installing Roth flat collectors Heliostar 252 and 218 outdoors, on flat roofs and/or on flat inclined roofs. Safety notes Read these installation instructions carefully before beginning installation and comply with the safety instructions mentioned here. The applicable industrial safety instructions and the rules of technology, particularly when working on roofs must be observed (see page 11). With higher snow pressures starting from Zone 4 and with installation locations above 600 m NN sea level please consult with the Roth Hotline for structural statics purposes. Important: With this installation version it is possible that the collectors may not be fully discharged. Therefore the solar system may only be filled with a water/antifreeze mixture. That means only fill antifreeze after pressure tests or function tests! Important: With the storage of collectors prior to installation make sure that they are never kept outdoors, lying on the glass surface and/or stored uncovered, because otherwise moisture could make its way the ventilation holes in the frame. During installation of the collector connections, make sure that they are soft-annealed. Therefore constantly hold while tightening the 1/2" thread connection! Otherwise damage to the collector can result! Static requirements The responsiblility for sufficient anchoring of the collectors outdoors or on roof, particularly in the case of strong winds, lies exclusively with the installer. Weight specifications for loading are expressly understood as not being a guarantee of the manufacturer in the preceding installation instructions! In case of damages Roth assumes no liability whatsoever. The guarantee in accordance with the warranty conditions on the material delivered by Roth remains unaffected thereof. The applicable standards and guidelines, apply particularly DIN 1055-4 regarding minimum weight loads with different building heights, apply. Potential equalisation and lightning protection The metallic pipelines of the solar circuit must be connected with the main potential equalisation rail through a green/yellow conductor of at least 16 mm 2 Cu (H07 V or R). If a lightning protection installation is present, the collectors can be linked to it. Otherwise earthing can also take place through an ground rod. The earth cable must be laid outside to the building. The earthing must also be connected with the main potential equalisation rail through a wire of equal width. Installation of sensor The sensor must be installed in the final collector passed that is through on the side of the feed (hot outlet). In doing so, remove the rubber sleeve, thread the sensor and push the rock wool inside the collector a little to the side. Then apply some thermally conductive paste to the sensor and insert it into the immersion sleeve until it stops. Finally, push the rubber sleeve back in until the countering lip interlocks with in the collector frame. For extending the sensor cable by up to 50 m, a cable diameter of 2 x 0.75 mm 2 is sufficient; beyond that a diameter of 2 x 1.5 mm 2 must be used. For protection of the connected control unit and the sensor against overvoltage, the collector sensor must be appropriately extended by an overvoltage protection case (optional) immediately behind the collector. 1. Front mounting detail 1 2. Rear mounting detail 2 The installation of the collectors takes place as described in the following: 3 3. POSITION: FRONT BELOW Connect the front, lower T-pieces by means of M10 hexagional screw, washer and safety nut. 4. Perform this process in the front lower area on both sides. 4 4
5 5. For fastening the C-installation rail 1205 mm (with oblong holes) to the T-piece, use hexagonal screws, U-profil, washer and safety nut as shown in the figure. 6 6. Slide on and fasten the C-rail. 7 7. Slide on the retaining clips for fastening the collectors in the lower area to the oblong holes on each side of the C-rail. 8 8. Preassemble hexagonal screw, U-profile and safety nut as shown in the figure. 5
9. Mount C-installation rails, including lower retaining clip on T-piece. 9 10. POSITON: LOWER REAR Connect the T-piece in the lower rear area by means of hexagonal screw, washer and safety nut. 10 11. For fastening the C-rail 700 mm (with oblong holes) to the T-piece, use hexagonal screws, U-profil, washer and safety nut as shown in the figure. 11 12. POSITION: UPPER REAR In the upper rear area fasten the T-piece on the C-rail. 12 6
13 13. In the next step the C-rails (with oblong hole) must likewise be mounted on the T-piece. 14 14. Prop up the two triangles that are created and fix in the ground. The axis-centre distance of the two C-rails must be 1640 mm with the Heliostar 252 and 1360 mm with the Heliostar. Axis-centre distance Heliostar 252: 1640 mm Heliostar 218: 1360 mm 15 15. After the axis-centre distance has been measured and checked, mark the bores in the base area. In connection with the drilling, these are fixed in the ground by means of one anchor per 2 piece/t-pieces. 16 16. The collector can only be inserted in the holder. It is imortant that it clicks into place in the lower retaining clip. 7
17. For safeguarding, the collector must likewise be fastened with a retaining clip in the upper area. 17 18. For sensor installation, remove rubber sleeve, thread the sensor, apply thermally conductive paste and insert it until it stops in the immersion sleeve. Finally, push the rubber sleeve back in until the rear counter lip is reached. 18 Industrial safety instructions Engineering rules ROTH WERKE GMBH Am Seerain 2 35232 Dautphetal Telefon 0 64 66/9 22-0 Telefax 0 64 66/9 22-1 00 Hotline 0 64 66/9 22-2 66 E-Mail service@roth-werke.de www.roth-werke.de Installation on roofs: DIN 18338 Roof covering and roof sealing work, DIN 18339 Plumbing work, DIN 18451 Scaffolding work Connection of thermal solar systems: DIN 4757 Part 1 and 3 Electrical connection: VDE 0100 Installation of electrical equipment, VDE 0185 General information for the installation of lightning protective systems, VDE 0190 Main potential equalisation of electrical systems, DIN 18382 Electrical cable and wiring systems in buildings; the construction trade associations give detailed information about accident prevention guidelines! Use ladders correctly Only use ladders for a height difference of up to 5 m. Lean at an angle of 65 to 75 and secure. The exit point must be projected above by at least 1 m. Security of not falling of the roof With heights > 3 m, fall protection is required for work on inclined roofs (20 to 60 ) (VBG 37, 8). Maximum vertical distance for workplace fall protection (safety scaffolding or alternatively roof scaffold) is 5 m. Safety harnesses and safety lines can also be used as fall protection. Attach roof safety hooks to stable components above the user. Do not use ladder hooks! Security of falling parts Protect roads and working places below against falling or upsetting components. These areas must be marked and blocked. Information can also be obtained from the Roth hotline: Tel. +49 (0) 64 66 / 9 22-2 66 Subject to technical modifications.
