Automobile Logistics The European network with 20 locations (sea and river terminals, technical centers and inland terminals) is complemented by transportation with its own equipment by rail, road and water. In total, 5.8 million vehicles were handled last year. The IT system C@RIN supports the logistical service chain from the vehicle manufacturers to the dealers. With more than 2.0 million vehicles per year, Bremerhaven is one of the world s leading vehicle ports. Following Bremerhaven s example, Gioia Tauro (southern Italy) has become the vehicle hub for the greater Mediterranean region. The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is conducted in technical centers. Special equipment is fitted for example air conditioning systems, navigation systems, leather seats, sunroofs, sports wheels or spoilers. The final manufacturing of exclusive special series is also part of the service range. Another area is that of high and heavy goods, which are loaded onto or unloaded from ships on their own wheels or on trailers. The network means customers in the areas of finished vehicles and high & heavy are provided with a complete range of logistics services complete solutions for the automobile industry. The quality of the entire range of services is certified. Contract Logistics The market requires supply chains for purchasing, production and distribution. BLG LOGISTICS renders complex services at 30 locations for clients such as Daimler, VW, Konica Minolta, Tchibo, Ikea and Siemens. Automotive example The logistician integrates the partial production of the manufacturer and its supplier into the supply chain and provides assembly lines domestically and abroad (JIT, JIS). The manufacturers also require production stages to their logisticians. Factory logistics example Optimising and creating reasonably priced production processes and material flows, including taking on staff, equipment and systems, means strengthening competitiveness and therefore customer benefit through logistical know-how. BLG LOGISTICS does this for industries such as automobile, textile and tele-communications. Business Electronics example The entire European market is supplied centrally with Konica Minolta fax machines and copiers. Consumer Products example One of Europe s largest and most modern high-bay warehouse operates in Bremen for Tchibo non-food logistics to supply the subsidiary network and the retail market. Other specialisations within the range of seaport logistics are transportation systems, steel products, machines and systems, forest products, frozen and deep-frozen goods. Container Logistics The joint venture EUROGATE is a market leader in Europe and operates one of the world s largest terminal networks. Its strong position is based on the Europe-wide terminal concept, expanded by all services associated with container transportation, including feeder services and intermodal networking with the hinterland. The EUROGATE terminal network covers the locations of Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Lisbon, Gioia Tauro, La Spezia, Ravenna, Salerno, Livorno, Cagliari, Tangier, and in future also Wilhelmshaven. The network strategy is confirmed by the terminal s above-average growth. 14.2 million TEU were turned over in 2008. The strongest locations in the terminal network are Bremerhaven, Gioia Tauro and Hamburg. The planned JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven is an ideal addition to the major German container ports of Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
