Message from the President Turnkey solutions, equipment, services Yann JAUBERT Pres For 40 years, FIMEC, and later, has been designing and producing equipment for a wide array of industries, including construction machinery, logistics and parcel delivery. The partnerships that forges with its customers are driven by innovation, which is designed to anticipate their evolving needs and provide support for their growth. Today s booming e-commerce sector is creating new challenges for parcel-delivery service providers: higher volumes, more valuable parcels, peak workloads during holiday seasons, and so on. Always attentive to its customers concerns, has invested heavily in R&D and registered numerous patents in the course of developing a new and innovative line of equipment for parcel loading and unloading. I am pleased to have this opportunity to present our equipment to you, as we mark our 40th year in business. More than ever, our motto is: Dare to innovate with FIMEC Technologies! Mr Yann Aubert President
Fimec Technologies Turnkey solutions, equipment, services, for materials-handling engineering A logistics-minded culture since the 1980s As a builder and integrator of turnkey solutions for construction materials since the 1980s, has now established itself in the logistics and parceldelivery market, collaborating with major industry partners in the process. has more than 300 parcel-processing lines to its credit. The specialist company has emerged as an essential provider of loading/unloading solutions for logistics platforms, including container unloaders, pallet unloaders, telescopic conveyors, and more. Thirty years of innovation in the logistics sector As a forerunner in the logistics sector, patenting the first high-speed comb sorter in 1984, is currently developing a range of innovative solutions designed to meet industry needs, as featured below. Design and ergonomics: FIMEC has developed ergonomic operator workstations Staff care: Fewer musculoskeletal disorders among operators as a result Integrity: Respect for the safety and physical integrity of the parcel is a key concern. Our solutions reduce operator contact with the parcel to a minimum, explains the company Productivity: Automated solutions that increase operator productivity by up to 500% Cost-effectiveness: Equipment that pays for itself in less than two years Energy savings: FIMEC gives preference to the use of speed drives and all-electric solutions, which lead to tangible energy savings Backed by the strength and dynamism of a hi-tech group is a subsidiary of the MATERIALS Technologies Group. With a workforce of 170 employees and annual sales in excess of 30 million, MATERIALS Technologies helps customers across five continents fulfil their project needs. Automated unloading - 1 / 3 Turnkey solutions, equipment, services Creating a more efficient unloading process: a priority for the logistics industry The growth of e-commerce demands flexible solutions for logistics platforms and parcel-delivery services solutions with the ability to handle peak production periods that are difficult to predict and, also, containers that come in an increasingly diverse range of sizes and shapes. is transforming the unloading process with its complete set of solutions for unloading every variety of plastic, steel and pallet box containers. With automatic unloaders, a single operator can process 3,000 to 5,000 parcels per hour, as compared to no more than 600 parcels per hour using a telescopic conveyor. FIMEC s solutions are specially designed to meet the industry s needs, as they give the priority to ergonomics and operator safety. Added benefits include lower equipment noise levels (<68 db); tangible energy savings; scalable solutions (since FIMEC s technical staff can adapt the equipment to new types of containers); and, last but not least, the enhanced safety and integrity of parcels.
Automated unloading - 2 / 3 Turnkey solutions, equipment, services Innovation in container, trolley and pallet box unloaders going further with U-CARE C In order to offer the most advanced solutions available, has supplemented its range of U-PERFORM and U-FLEX unloaders with a new model the U-CARE C. FIMEC s U-CARE C safeguards the integrity of the parcel at all times, thanks to its patented shock-reduction system (patent reference No.1258638). U-CARE C offers exceptionally high efficiency, with a processing capacity of 80 containers per hour. As an all-electric unloading solution, coupled with a new interface for reducing energy consumption, U-CARE C is economical to run. It generates low noise levels (<68 db). With its intuitive operator interface, including a display unit with integrated Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), U-CARE C is easy to operate. It offers multiple configurations for the recycling of empty containers. Finally, remote support and control by a FIMEC technician is available, which is an added bonus. U-CARE C: The ultimate solution for unloading 80 trolleys and boxes per hour U-FLEX and U-PERFORM are already in use at more than 300 multipurpose unloading lines at parcel-delivery and catalogue-sales facilities. This versatile equipment has been adopted by Coliposte, in, and has been used at all its logistics platforms for more than a decade.
Automated unloading - 3 / 3 Turnkey solutions, equipment, services A new concept for pallet unloading with U-CARE P As the volume of pallets at logistics platforms continues to grow, the solutions currently available are designed primarily to help with handling tasks and are unsuited to a more industrialized approach. The challenge has been to find a solution for processing pallets of significant height (up to 2.70m) and varied dimensions at high speed, whilst ensuring each parcel s integrity and the safety of operators. To deal with this issue, has developed a flexible and completely automated unloading concept (patent reference No.12189894) that ensures the integrity of parcels, thanks to the implementation of the principle of: No impacts, no falls. U-CARE P works with pallets of all sizes, with no additional adaptation needed. The system affords a very high processing speed (120 pallets per hour) with a significant reduction in noise: the system is designed so that parcels slide rather than drop from a height, which eliminates the sound of falling parcels. The all-electric unloading solution, coupled with a new interface for reducing energy consumption, constitutes another advantage. The intuitive operator interface, including a display unit with integrated PLC, guarantees ease of use. And FIMEC provides remote support and control by a trained and dedicated technician. o U-CARE P: The high-speed solution for pallet unloading This equipment can be supplemented with FIMEC s U-ASSIST system for holding the parcels in place during wrap-film removal (patent pending).
U-ASSIST: automated version U-ASSIST: manual version For more information on U-CARE, please go to: http://youtu.be/pjuftnft5rs A turnkey system designed by for multiple-size packages is committed to designing the best possible solution in order to meet the specific needs of its clients. All FIMEC solutions are displayed and simulated using Demo 3D software. By virtue of its position as a builder and integrator, can provide its customers with a turnkey system that includes assembly, commissioning and personalized after-sales service. FIMEC s automated unloading solution: One operator manages four lines of equipment, which amounts to over 10,000 parcels per hour.
FIMEC s latest innovation: 3D robotized palletizing In 2012, patented a robotized parcel palletizing concept (patent reference No.1258705) that can be used to ensure parcels are loaded onto transport vehicles at optimal density, using pallets that are 2.40m in height. Besides, the 3D robotized palletizing system patented by is able to prepare parcel pallets more quickly, at a rate of up to 900 parcels per hour. Thanks to being automated and having been designed in a sophisticated manner, FIMEC s latest technological innovation has other advantages: more particularly, it improves staff working conditions.
How it all works The parcels arriving from the sorting equipment at each logistics centre are carried into containers or onto conveyor belts, one per destination. A unique display tool takes three-dimensional measurements of each parcel and identifies its exact position within each container or along each conveyor belt. A specially developed heuristic algorithm tells the robot which parcel it has selected, its precise position (within the container or along the conveyor belt), and the desirable position and orientation for the parcel on the pallet.
