Let s share a vision 2

A world where we can all achieve more while using less of our common planet 3

Green Building

What is GREEN Building? It is the practice of increasing the efficiency of buildings and their use of energy, water and materials and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance and removal the complete building life cycle. 5

6

Green Building Certification Programs Energy efficient buildings save costs and sell for more than conventional buildings 7

What is LEED Rating System? LEADERSHIP in ENERGY and ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN A leading-edge system for certifying the greenest performing buildings in the world. developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. 8

LEED Scoring Categories Sustainable Sites (14) Water Efficiency (5) Energy and Atmosphere (17) Material and Resources (14) Indoor Environmental Quality (15) Innovation and Design Process (5) USGBC has four levels of LEED 9

Positioning of LEED in the Market 10

11

Incentives Governmental green economy program Governmental investments into green buildings Economical Taxational incentives CO2 market European storehouse qualification In case of building, selling, renewing, renting a building Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) 12

Green Building Rating System encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. 16

Let Schneider Electric Improve Your LEED Score A review of the LEED Score Card and where Schneider Electric can Contribute.

Current Projects

Sustainable Sites 19

Sustainable Sites Outdoor lighting fixtures optimize the use of the light source and reduce waste light. Parking lot lights can be turned on or up to full power only when needed Lighting Control coupled with photo sensors can be used to maximize the use of daylight. At night skylights can be closed off automatically to prevent light from escaping. 20

Water Efficiency Tie irrigation system into building management system interface to moisture sensors. Schneider Electric Waste Water Competency Center provides innovative approach for controlling pumps and motors. Tight control of water pressure using VFD's and pressure sensors. Minimum flow = Minimum waste. 21

Energy & Atmosphere 22

Energy & Atmosphere Schneider Electric services can support building start up to ensure optimum performance of building management and electrical distribution systems. Optimized use of HVAC by the building management system will reduce the total BTU required for any given building. Building energy performance can be modeled by computer prior to final design and construction. Lighting control becomes critical to assure lighting loads are effectively managed. Lighting controls and energy efficient fixtures can be used to both reduce energy consumption and peak electrical demand. 23

Energy & Atmosphere 24

Energy & Atmosphere Xantrex, our renewable energy invertor allows Schneider Electric ability to supply complete alternate energy solutions. Schneider Electric provides a wide variety of services from initial design consultation, project management, start-up, and on-going system monitoring and support to assure your lighting control system is delivering maximum energy savings and performance. Powerlogic and EEM ION system can be used to construct a networked, distributed energy measurement system which can provide visibility into real time and historical energy usage. Certified Measurement and Verification professionals develop a M&V plan. This credit also requires tracking performance of energy systems through simulation or engineering analysis, both of are within the Schneider Electric capabilities. 25

Materials & Resources A large percentage of Switchgear Powerlink and Clipsal lighting control products are manufactured in the state of Tennessee. 26

Indoor Environmental Quality 27

Indoor Environmental Quality Schneider Electric manufacture a range of Variable Frequency drives specifically designed for HVAC applications allowing airflow to be very accurately controlled. Building Management System incorporates Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring Building management systems from Schneider Electric offer best in class control of HVAC, Lighting, Security, Access Control, Power Quality Management & Energy Management systems. Lighting controls offers a host of occupant controllability from individual offices, large open spaces, even entire buildings. Our keypads and touch screens blend aesthetically pleasing faceplates with powerful capabilities to provide convenient occupant comfort. And our advanced web based lighting controls allow advanced control capabilities from the convenience of a standard web browser. 28

Innovation & Design Process Schneider can provide a display for Volkswagen which outlines all building management systems which help ensure compliance with LEED. The use of innovative controls and monitoring systems to reduce further energy use, prolong equipment life and enhance occupant comfort are examples of areas USGBC will consider. 29

Schneider Electric s Initial Contribution to VW LEED Score: Schneider Electric can contribute up to 28 points! 30
