EXCELLENCE IN SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS CII-ITC Sustainability Awards define the science of sustainability performance. The Awards mark excellence in sustainable business practices. Excellence in sustainability is a journey that never ends. This journey is arduous and we are proud of it. The Awards separate the men from the boys, and help the boys grow into men. Uniquely based on EFQM Excellence Framework, these Awards are not for the masses. These are for those who strive effortlessly to make sustainability their business. We accept limited number of applications to keep the competition strong and standards of excellence high.

Instituted in 2006, CII-ITC Sustainability Awards are now celebrating a decade of recognising sustainable businesses. In the journey of nine years, CII-ITC Sustainability Awards have become a symbol of credibility and pride for companies. Cumulatively, more than 500 businesses have applied and 163 have been recognised.

CII-ITC Sustainability Awards CII-ITC Sustainability Awards recognise and reward excellence in businesses that are seeking ways to be more sustainable and inclusive in their activities. Winners of these Awards are role models that inspire all business to follow suit. The Awards are a part of continued efforts by the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development to create awareness on sustainability practices and to create capacity to mainstream them. Applicants must make a serious, companywide commitment to the process. Evaluation Process Over a period of six months, applicants undergo a rigorous evaluation process that is based on principles of business excellence. A team of CII-certified assessors spends nearly 1000 man-hours per application in close consultation with professionals across the organisation. The findings of this assessment, presented in the form of a detailed Feedback Report to every applicant, further help applicants by providing insights that improve the impact of their sustainability initiatives and drive overall performance by identifying opportunities for improvement.

YOU SHOULD APPLY BECAUSE You want to assess your sustainability performance based on the EFQM Excellence Model. You want to be recognised as Excellent in Sustainable business, by the most Credible Sustainability Awards in the country. You want to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement based on a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation by independent, CII Sustainability Assessors.

Sustainable Business of the Decade 1 The award recognizes companies that have excelled in sustainable business in a period of 10 years between 2006-2015 Corporate Excellence BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD CATEGORIES 1 Domain Excellence ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT The award recognizes companies that have employed innovative approaches, including policy and practice, to reduce their environmental impact and achieved exemplary results. 2 3 This role model award celebrates the company that has successfully proven a business case for sustainability and demonstrates a company-wide commitment to advancing the sustainable business agenda; not just internally but among customers, suppliers and the industry as well. OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENT The award recognizes companies that have demonstrated outstanding policy, practice and results by successfully incorporating sustainability in their core business. COMMENDATION FOR SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENT 2 3 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY The award recognizes companies that have positively impacted both business and society by taking a strategic approach to CSR through collaborative programmes with government and civil society. SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN The award recognizes companies that are leading transformation in their supply chain by integrating sustainability into their sourcing, procurement and distribution channels. The award recognizes companies that have demonstrated commendable results from deployment of policy and processes.

You can apply, if you are Operating In India, For Five Years Or More A Large, Medium, Small, Micro-sized Enterprise Or Independent Unit/division From The Manufacturing Or Service Sector ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Sustainable Business of the Decade Applicants that have applied under Corporate or Domain Excellence cannot apply for Business of the Decade Applicants that apply must have adopted sustainable practices in their business for the last 10 years from 2006-2015 Corporate Excellence Applicants to categories under Corporate Excellence cannot apply under Domain Excellence Domain Excellence Applicants to categories under Domain Excellence cannot apply under Corporate Excellence Applicants may apply for one or more domains

The Awards adhere to a transparent and rigorous assessment process based on the Sustainability Excellence Assessment Model, developed using the following frameworks: ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY Methodology adapted from the internationally acclaimed European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) approach wherein equal weight is assigned to Enablers and Results, indicating a causeeffect relationship Enablers Leadership Internal Stakeholders External Stakeholders Key Resources Assessment is based on more than 300 indicators which cover 15 aspects of sustainability. The assessment has been made more comphrensive to include aspects such as Business Ethics, Employee Development, Human Rights, Biodiversity. Processes Results Learning & Innovation Results: Internal Stakeholders Results: External Stakeholders Feedback report is provided to all applicants once assessment cycle is completed. The feedback report serves as guiding document for applicants to improve their performance. Key Performance Results Learning & Review The assessment is conducted over a period of six months by a pool of specially trained sustainability assessors from diverse professional backgrounds that spend approximately 1,000 man-hours perapplication. The results of each assessment are reviewed by a preeminent Jury, comprising of leaders from government, civil society and academia, at two stages before a final decision is taken.
