Paper-1.2 Principles of Aquaculture 60 Systems of Aquaculture: Pond culture, pen culture, cage culture, running water culture.extensive, semi-intensive. Intensive aquaculture in different types of water bodies: Species selection and suitable species for different culture systems.pre-stocking and poststocking management of nursery, rearing and stocking ponds control of aquatic weeds and algal bloom, eradication of unwanted fishes, liming, maturing/fertilazation.use of bio-fertilizers, supplementary feeding, composite carring capacity of pond and water quality. Paper-2.1 Soil & Water Chemistry 60 Origin and nature of soil: Physical properties of soil, Soil colour, soil texture, soil structure, pore size weather holding capacity and soil types. Soil chemistry organic carbon, carbon-nitogen ration, soil fertility, soil reclamation. Submerged soil, wet-land, soil analysis, collection and preparation of soil sample. Determination of soil texture, water holding capacity ph, organic carbon, soil quality criteria for aquaculture. Chemistry of water: Water molecule, properties of pure water and seawater composition of surface water and ground water. Water analysis collection and preservation of water sample measurement of temperature, transparency,turbidity,ph,oxygen,freecarbondioxide,alkalinity,hardness,t otal solids.
