NFS Commitment to KP Critical to Kaiser Permanente s success is the implementation of its infrastructure, which impacts care delivery, staff performance, cost structure, and ability to accommodate member growth. Kaiser Permanente National Facilities Services (NFS) exists for this purpose, and to manage the infrastructure to support the current 8.8M members and 175,000 employees. NFS has recognized the transformational change that BIM can provide and has committed to the use of the BIM tool moving forward A BIM Workgroup has been created to oversee and manage that direction within NFS and to assess the current as-is state, compared to the organizational direction and objectives set forth for the year 2015. NFS hired Ecodomus to help identify the BIM Roadmap, and the workgroup has made recommendations to Sr. Leadership to proceed with key elements to move the program forward. We believe that investment in a comprehensive BIM strategy will transform how NFS manages infrastructure data and critical processes delivering better, smarter, greener facilities for less money. 3 March 22, 2012 2011 Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. Discovery Ecodomus led our BIM Roadmap effort with the following: Root Cause Analysis- Understand why our current state is the way it is. Future Process Mapping Specify how to get to a desired state Further Considerations Identify additional areas where BIM can improve current NFS processes. Interviews throughout the organization were conducted. Current NFS standards and select project documents were reviewed. AKP NFS BIM to-be state was recommended. Priorities: Lifecycle > Project Process > Technology Data > 3D Geometry 4 March 22, 2012 2011 Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. For internal use only.
Three Key Must Do work tracks 1. Program-wide Enterprise Based Execution BIM Communication Plan Establish messaging for KP s BIM vision Standards and Objectives Establish clear BIM processes and deliverables Project BIM Standards Lifecycle Data Standards 2. Implementation Project Based Execution Allocation of funds Allocate funds throughout AEC process to support changes caused by BIM BIM based Quality Control Develop BIM based quality control for design, procurement, equipment and management O&M Data Collection & Handover Establish criteria for O&M data selection, collection, quality control and delivery 3. Management Facility Based Execution Integrated Data Management Define data distribution rules for systems of record across the enterprise Smart Buildings Applying BIM information for continuous commissioning of facilities 5 March 22, 2012 2011 Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc.
