ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 1 Instructions for Creating a ParScore Course 1. Open ParScore. Log in. 2. Create a New Course a. Select New b. Enter the Course ID.: Sample course ID: 150READS12=Reading 150, spring 2012 c. Enter the Course Title: Sample course title the same as the Course ID d. Select OK. 1 3 2 e. Double-click on the course to Open it, or use the Open button. 3. If using an existing course, open ParScore. Log in and highlight the course you want and click open. 4. There are four Important Tabs: Roster, Criteria, Keys, Scoring Tip: Use the tabs from left to right 4 Tabs 5. Roster Tab: a. From the Roster Tab, Select the Create Score Columns icon on the toolbar. (Looks like a birthday cake with three candles). b. Under Category, select Exam and enter 01 for the no. of columns. c. Select Edit Label if you would like to change the category name. (SLO exam = Reading 150 SLO exam). Click on Change and OK d. Set Category Order (move SLO exam to top of list by clicking on arrows). e. In the Possible Score column, type in the number of possible points for the exam. f. Leave Add Subtotal Column blank.
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 2 g. Select Add when finished. Create Column 6. Criteria Tab Under View Data check boxes for grades A through F (90.0 to 00.00) for standard grading score. Then go to Keys tab. 7. Keys Tab: Adding the Answer Key. a. Select the Keys Tab. b. On the right side of the screen, select the Category for the Answer Key you are adding. (SLOexam) c. Remove from the Version List versions B D so that only A is remaining. d. Using a Scantron form on which you bubbled in your answers, load only the answer key in the machine (face up) and select the Scan Keys button. Click end. 1 2
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 3 8. Scoring Tab: Scoring the Student Tests e. Select the Scoring Tab f. Select the Category that matches the test you are scanning. Select the scoring options you must select Auto Enrollment. g. Insert forms to be scanned and push Press to Load at top back of scanner. h. Select the Score button to begin the scanning process. i. During scanning, an Edit box will be displayed for anything found incorrect on the form. You may click Edit on the computer, then Ok, then Continue to resume scanning. j. When you are finished, select End on the computer to complete the process. 1 2 3 9.Reviewing the Roster After you have finished scoring a test, you need to return to the Roster tab to view the results. Double click on the Student ID if you need to modify a number. Click on the Name fields on the screen if you need to modify the information. Viewing scores in different modes: Click on the View Score as in the box at the top right to change the view from raw to percent.
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 4 10. Printing Reports At the top of screen. (This is not a tab), select Reports. a. Select the reports you want, then click Preview. (Score Distribution Reports, Item Analysis Reports, etc.) b. When satisfied with the preview, click Print. 11. TO LOOK AT SELECTED SLO ITEMS CONTINUE. From the menu at top of screen, select Reports then Subtest Reports and Charts. In the box that pops up, make sure correct test is highlighted (1 below) and click Continue (2 below). 1 2
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 5 a. Click on Create Subtest icon. b. Name the subtest (SLO1, SLO2, etc.), enter the Number of Items on that subtest (1, 10, 20,etc.), enter the Minimum to Pass (70% or other), leave the Passing this subtest required to pass overall as NO. Select item numbers for the subtest from Available Questions by using the arrows to move them to Selected Questions. Click OK.
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 6 c. Repeat instructions a. and b. above for each SLO you want to measure. Click OK when you have entered all the subtests (SLOs) you want. d. Select All Subtests e. Click on the Print Subtest Reports icon.
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 7 f. Enter a Report Heading (Combined SLOs). Choose Subtest Class Summary Report. Click Preview. Here is the preview of how the report will appear. When satisfied with the preview, click Print
ParScore Single Section Exam Instructions 8 12. OPTION a. If you would like to get the report as a PDF file close the Preview>go to File at top of screen> Printer Set Up> Select PDF Creator> Apply. Close the box and then go back to the report and click on the Print icon. b. Name the report again. Click Subtest Class Summary Report again, Click Print. Close. c. In the PDF Creator box, give it a Document Title (no need to complete any of the other fields) and hit Save. Click on Desktop and Save again. d. It will be saved to the desktop and you can then email it to your computer to save and print in your office. Don t forget to go to File> Printer Set Up> Select the printer that is regularly connected to the computer to return to regular printing.
