What I will talk about? Model approach for regions aiming at 100% renewable energy supply Background Learning from regional development Experience from projects with regions aiming at 100% renewable energy supply Approach in the district of Ebersberg Ideal structure for implementing the process in the long term Benefits for regions

Regional development Central characteristic Intensified cooperation and communication Strengthened regional networks Commitment of the citizenship Projects aiming at sustainable regional development often result in the use of regional resources within the region short ways of transport the use of renewable energy sources and saving energy

Renewable energies & saving energy in regions EU projects on 100% renewable energy regions: 100% RENET and PROMOTE 100 Promotion of the 100% aim within the regional management for the administrative district of Ebersberg Energy concepts for the administrative districts of Barnim und Uckermark Attendance of the forum on climate protection and energy in Bamberg

Model approach for 100% regions The way to become a 100% renewable energy region I. Renewable energies and regional development II. The process of building up a regional energy initiative III. Extract of the guidelines Topic K: Energy efficiency and Renewable Energies K1) We want the district of Ebersberg to become independent of fossil and other finite energy carriers by the year 2030. In order to reach this aim, we will implement measures for energy saving and use a broad range of renewable energy sources.... K2) We will support households, craftsmen, agriculture and forestry as well as medium-sized enterprises in developing and using innovative technologies. K3) We will create the needed organisational preconditions for professional information, consulting and coordination of the activities related to the energy turn-around in the district.

The process in the district of Ebersberg Assessment of the current needs (electricity, heat) current production of energy from renewable energies the potentials for saving energy the potentials for increasing the use of heat and electricity from renewable energy sources the current supply structures the strenths, weaknesses focused on structures and measures (projects) in the district

The process in the district of Ebersberg SWOT-anylsis: central outcome The main challenges The lack of information among the population and enterprises The necessity to improve the possibilities for funding and for the mobilisation of capital Lack of cooperation with the implementation of projects between the district and the municipality level Central and superordinated strengths are The manifestation of the 100% 2030 objective on district level and similar objectives in some of the municipalities of the district Numerous activities in the field of renewable energies and rational use of energy on district and municipality level.

The process in the district of Ebersberg What has already been achieved: Energy production 13 solar plants in the hand of citizens Various other renewable energy plants, such as Bio-methane plant in Pliening Wood-chip plants / small local heat nets (e.g.: Markt Schwaben, Hohenlinden, Forstinning, Ebersberg) Wood-pellet and wood chip plants in the hand of private persons and municipalities (Bauhof Zorneding) Biogas plants (Angelbrechting, Pliening, Baiern...)
