WHO WE ARE CHARMAIN NAIDOO, CLIENT RELATIONS Charmain has had a 30-year career in journalism. She has worked in every sector of the industry, from reporter to editor to general manager with responsibilities for budgets and contracts on Times Media s nine newspapers. Her international experience includes a year spent working on The Dallas Morning News in Dallas, Texas, where she was their White House correspondent in Washington DC. At Times Media, as a foreign correspondent, she ran the New York and London offices of The Sunday Times. She has edited the group s Eastern Cape titles Weekend Post and The Herald. Most recently, she was a media strategist at a leading Johannesburg-based public relations and communications company with a special interest in Foundations and CSI projects. Her extensive travels have shown her that, in the face of changing media consumption, public relations has never been more essential for companies trying to get a message across to a fragmented public. Reaching the target audience in our digital instant access world is GNL s super power. We excel at directing the strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships for our clients and their target audience, she says. BRIAN HAYWARD, MANAGING DIRECTOR After 10 fast-paced years with The Herald and Weekend Post newspapers where he covered the business, political and investigative beats Brian left the newsroom to venture into the equally challenging world of PR. He started the eponymous Brian Anthony Communications in 2012, but his rapidly expanding business saw him grow the team and rebrand as Good News Lab within four years. As a trained reporter, Brian has a nose for news and he knows exactly what will hook the media interest in a client s story. Forever a journalist at heart, he strives to bring the same standards of credibility and newsworthiness to every piece of content created. He is a former national Vodacom Journalist of the Year winner and two-time regional print news winner, with several category wins in prestigious competitions like the Mondi-Shanduka and Discovery Journalism awards to his credit.
