Business - Ready JD Edwards BI Content for Microsoft PowerBI

QuickLaunch for JD Edwards Preferred Strategies QuickLaunch is a reporting and business intelligence accelerator software that quickly transforms difficult to access JD Edwards (JDE) data into actionable, decision-ready information. Most business Intelligence project costs are not in the initial software installation but rather in the build-out phase where companies refine their BI systems to make sense of the increasing variety and volume of corporate data sources. QuickLaunch for JD Edwards helps customers reduce BI project costs and standardize BI content throughout the organization. Preferred Strategies QuickLaunch consists of: BI QuickLaunch Delivering prebuilt data models, templates, and reports for JDE Data QuickLaunch Simplifying the back-end JDE data environment QuickLaunch Introduction Video QuickLaunch cost-effectively streamlines the implementation of market-leading Microsoft BI software with Power BI and PowerPivot. This approach enables JDE companies to leverage the top-tier analytical tools that knowledge-centric businesses adopt to drive better analytics and ultimately create the most value out of their IT investments. With QuickLaunch for JD Edwards, customers realize the tangible benefits of reporting and business intelligence in a matter of days rather than spending months building out an effective infrastructure to support a successful BI implementation. BI QuickLaunch for JD Edwards 2

BI QuickLaunch for Microsoft BI QuickLaunch is an accelerator software solution designed for JD Edwards customers looking to leverage the following Microsoft reporting and analytics technologies across all corporate data sources: Power BI Microsoft s latest data visualization, ad hoc reporting, and analytical tool that allows business users to develop reports and visualizations and deploy them to the Power BI Cloud or share them on premise with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). The solution also includes a free Power BI Desktop application for extensive data modeling and development. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Microsoft s on premise reporting platform to share and distribute reports through the organization. SSRS also supports the sharing of Power BI reports. BI QuickLaunch for Microsoft Deliverables With Microsoft, we have found the best way to provide governed reporting within the business is to build Tabular data models that serve as the central metadata layer for analytics. Tabular data models possess many of the same characteristics as traditional Multi-dimensional (OLAP) cubes, however Tabular leverages new In-Memory technology that offers enhanced performance with less setup and maintenance required. QuickLaunch includes packaged JD Edwards Tabular models on a server using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). BI QuickLaunch for Microsoft Webinar SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Tabular Model for JD Edwards QuickLaunch SSAS Tabular consists of one data model that supports several JD Edwards modules (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sales, Inventory, Procurement, and Manufacturing, Job Cost, Asset Management, etc.). In this BI QuickLaunch for JD Edwards 3

scenario, one model is presented on a server with multiple Perspectives which provides shared dimension tables that reduce the load on your source system because each dimension is only processed once per recommended hourly refresh cycle. QuickLaunch SSAS Tabular includes all the core JD Edwards elements business users need for reporting and analytics such as the applicable dimensions (i.e. Business Unit, Region, Customer, etc.) and measures (i.e. Actual Amount, Quantity Shipped, Hours Worked etc.) for each JDE subject area. The Tabular Model also includes hundreds of advanced Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) calculations and formulas for dynamic time-based measures such as Month-to-Date, Quarter-to-Date, Year-to-Date, Inception-to- Date, etc. QuickLaunch SSAS Tabular models can be deployed on premise or in the cloud. Users can connect seamlessly to SSAS data models with Power BI, Excel, and SSRS to create their own data visualizations and reports to produce immediate insights from JD Edwards data. QuickLaunch SSAS Tabular Benefits: Greatest performance with responsive query and analysis speed Lowest load on the source system Minimal workstation memory requirements Tightest governance for both security and revision control for changes of the model and data Easy maintenance with one SSAS Tabular model to support Great for customers with large sized JDE data volumes Recurring Tabular Model refresh schedule determined by customer BI QuickLaunch for JD Edwards 4

Supports JD Edwards Direct Connect, Operational Data Store, or Data Warehouse approach Data QuickLaunch for JD Edwards As the source of data for BI QuickLaunch, Data QuickLaunch (DQL) simplifies the data foundation layer of JD Edwards, transforming the cryptic information into a business-friendly format. This simplification process is critical to unlocking the power of effective BI. DQL makes it easier for business users to quickly analyze JD Edwards data and create actionable reports to drive better decision making. Data QuickLaunch supports all versions of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World. It is available in three product implementation approaches: Direct Connect Operational Data Store Data Warehouse Figure 1 Three versions of Data QuickLaunch These product offerings give customers a choice between receiving report data in real-time, or in near real-time, just minutes behind JD Edwards production environment.
