Installation Instruction photovoltaic modules E-PV 250W on the flat roof or fundation 10/2013 Get acquainted before the installation.
1. General information Lightning Protection System In case of LPS we distinguish installations for protection from direct and indirect lightning strikes. Exterior LPS on direct strikings Founding of lightning conductor after photovoltaic installation is required only in several extraordinary cases, like a case of extremely exposed location for instance. If the building holds lightning conductor, then required isolating distances for the catching device should be kept according to PN-EN 62 305:2011. If not, a clamping construction should be connected on a short distance through earth wires with proper electric-conductive deliverables, which next must be connected with earth wire. Consult PN-HD 60364-5-54:2011. In case of except clamping construction, secure potential equalization and pay attention to keep a sufficient distance from existing roof holders for electric supply. Since roof holders cannot be connected with an earth wire, avoid contingence of both elements. Interior LPS from overvoltage. Surge arrester in the inverter protects the module and electronics from damaging overvoltage. Effectiveness of the surge arrester (overvoltage protection equipment) increases when inverter is assembled possibly close to installed photovoltaic modules, alternatively at the expense of accessibility. In case of buildings lacking lightning conductor, it is not advised to install lightning conductor joined to photovoltaic system because earthed photovoltaic installations with LPS may induce damaging overvoltage. If installed photovoltaic panel visibly sticks out of the roof surface (i.e. in case of low-pitched roofs), then installed lightning conductor should be controlled by qualified expert. CAUTION!!! Beside the photovoltaic installation should be realized an equalizing earth. It is also advised to realize LPS in a way that the security range enfolds the photovoltaic module installation. You must not connect LPS to equalizing earth installation. CAUTION!!! In case of badly made protecting installation, there is a possibility of electrocution by direct contact with metal elements (like i.e. iron pipes, radiator, bathroom taps)
2. Safety during installation Before proceeding with assembly works you should instantly get acquainted with the safety guidelines! 2.1 Notices included in the manual The assembly manual contains essential information concerning safety and proper location of PV module on a roof as well as correct workmanship of modules junction. Drawings as well as the information included in the manual concern vertical assembly of PV modules. The assembly of modules described in the manual may be carried out only by qualified persons having technical knowledge concerning photovoltaic installations. After labour termination, fitter should pass the assembly manual to the client and show in an understandable way the mechanism of action and guidelines essential to correct maintenance of the photovoltaic installation. 2.2 Destination Present manual contains the description of assembly set for the assembly of photovoltaic modules on a flat roof. Assembly set serves only for the assembly of PV modules, it must not serve for an assembly of other appliances on the roof. Only the assembly of modules on a supporting construction guarantees safety. Modules fitted on the ground must be connected to the bed with the fundaments and temporary construction (not included in standard assembly set) Minimal distance of the lower edge of photovoltaic module from the ground surface must amount to min.40cm 3. Before proceeding with assembly Guideline. According to the fact that assembly work on the roof can be dangerous, it is advised to hire roofing service to accomplish it. DANGER Contact with electrically active parts of the module can cause burning, scintillation, scorch or electric shock. Photovoltaic module produces electricity when sunbeams or other source lights the surface. You have to cover the module with canvas or other tilt, in order to isolate sunbeams for the time of installation.
3.1 Completeness of delivery Before proceeding with the assembly, you should check if delivery is complete (according to the drawing below) and if delivered elements are undamaged. - in case of ascertainment of damage, instantly carry out an exchange of damaged elements or parts, - carry out an exchange only for the original producer s deliverables. 3.1.1. 3.2 Transport and storing - modules should be kept in dry place. If they are kept out in the open, they must be secured against the elements. 3.3 Technical documentation Photovoltaic installation set consists of different components. Before assembling of any of them, you should get acquainted with a proper manual. Installation manuals of device or accessories are attached to the particular appliance. 3.4 Tools and extra equipment - level, - harness with safety line (for work at heights), - staging, roofing ladder or winch. 3.5 Localization of module Potential quantity of absorbed rays depends on the proper localization of the module against catching sunbeams. Optimum is a perpendicular arrangement of the surface of a module to catching beam. Recommended location of the module: - angle of inclination: 40 45 o for annual installation ok. 30 o for summer installation ok. 60 o for winter installation - orientation of module southwards (or close to southwards). It is advised to install module on the southern part of roof. While installing, you should pay extra attention to the protection from overthrowing by strong winds. Modules should be located in a way which will not cause the diminishing of the absorber by the adjacent buildings, trees etc. In case of greater number of segments of modules it is important that a row of preceding modules does not shadow the following row.

Module consists of polycrystalline silicon cells. They can be used in an aisle installations (off-grid) as well as in the installations connected to electric network (on-grid). Module is built of 60 series-parallel cells, hermetically laminated, covered with tempered safety glass of 3,2 millimeters thickness. Cells are soldered contactless with warm air which minimalizes development of microtensions in cells structure. All the process of soldering the photovoltaic module takes place in high-class laminators under conditions of deep vacuum. Parameters of lamination are strictly set technology and cannot be changed by the operators it guarantees high quality and repeatability of lamination.
5. Assembling on the slopping roof. 5.1 Angle of inclination of the photovoltaic modules. 4.1.1 Roof or flat surface. In case of assembly of the module on the roof or flat surface, the degree of the inclination of assembly set directly agrees with assumed inclination of the module. 5.1.2 Roof or surface with an angle of inclination to 20 In case of roofs pitched southwards A, less the amount of roof inclination from the assumed inclination of modules. In case of roofs pitched northwards B, append the amount of roof inclination to the assumed inclination of modules.. Given number indicates how much should total of the set s angle of inclination. Regulations of the assembly set s angle are caused by trimming and i overdrilling the back strut.
5.3. Construction of the assembly set on a low-pitched roof or the ground.
5.4 Assembling of supporting triangles 5.4.1 Assembling of supporting triangles for E-PV 250W The base for the assembly set are supporting triangles. All the triangles are put together in the same manner: Guideline Before proceeding with screwing the supporting triangle, you should distribute all the elements according to the photo attached below. 5.5 Determining the minimal surface Assembly of mounting constructions can take place only on the specifically prepared ground. In case of assembly of modules on a low-pitched roof, the minimal distance of module on the roof edge amounting to 1m. 5.6 Number and spacing of supporting triangles First module requires two supporting triangles. For each next module use one supporting triangle more. Spacing of supporting triangles depends on the amount of assembled modules and respectively amounts to: Number of modules Number of triangles Spacing of triangle 1 2 790 2 3 903 3 4 941 4 5 960 5 6 971
5.7 Number and spacing of spline profiles The set consists of adequate number of multi-slot profile, depending on the number of photovoltaic modules. In assembly triangles there are holes prepared for assembling the rails of profile Number of PV modules Vertical assembly 1050 mm profiles 1 2 pcs. - 2-2 pcs. 3 2 pcs. 2 pcs. 4-4 pcs. 5 2 pcs. 4 pcs. 2100 mm profiles Tab. Configurations of profiles and numbers of multi-slots connectors. The table gives the number of profiles and connectors inclusive for the set of upper and lower profile. 5.8 Joining of spline profiles Connect the profiles with each other according to the configuration table, as in the picture below: Guideline In order to avoid uncontrolled displacement of coupler it is possible to use screw as distances (screws are not delivered in the set). Coupler itself is not for screwing. - twist screws into profiles within x = approximately 55 mm from the edge, - connect profiles with each other using the delivered jointing element.
5.9 Connecting of the multi-slot profiles with supporting triangles Place delivered screws in multi-slot profiles in a number corresponding to the number of supporting triangles, as in the picture below. Having in mind setting of supporting triangles and rails of profile, screw down rails profiles with the supporting triangles, as in the picture below: There are four mounting holder per module, two per each profile. Place screwes in profiles, put the module on the spline profiles put mounting washers on the crank of module, with nut screw down with the screw placed in the profile.
Side holders were envisaged on the edges and middle (inter-module) holder between modules. 4.12 Fixation of a structure to the ground After setting it up, put the mounting construction in place of destination. Anchor the mounting construction to the ground with anchor screws in a way precluding extraction of the construction from the ground. Make holes in places of fixation of the framework through the holes in the flange of the supporting frame.
After making holes you should do as follows: - unscrew the flange of the supporting frame (carefully put the construction aside in order not to interrupt at work), - make anchor holes, - anchor the base to the ground, - screw down the flange of the supporting frame. 7. Electric connection. Electric connections are made with special electric circuit ended with junction. For greater infallibility and safety, there should be used cords refractory to the elements, to insulation of 1000V, with a proper wearability, high temperatures and UV rays. PV module can be connected electrically in two possible ways. Possible is parallel connection (negative charge to negative charge, positive to positive; minus to minus, plus to plus). Parallel connection guarantees aggregation of current, voltage remains the same. Second type is series connection (positive charge to negative charge; plus to minus). In case of series connection, voltage aggregates and current remains the same. Series connection is used more often due to the requirements of frequency inverter. Parallel connection of modules Series connection of modules
