The Administrative Services Manager in the Police Department is both a hands-on and strategic manager, who meets regularly with internal stakeholders to review budget estimates and long-range plans, while working closely and collaboratively with members of the City's Finance Department. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative yet inquisitive working style that includes the ability to appropriately question and delve into fiscal matters to ensure the accuracy of the data and transparency in reporting. The Administrative Services Manager makes public presentations to the City Council, and also works collaboratively with various outside groups, intergovernmental agencies, and organizations. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, and will be successful at building and maintaining strong working relationships throughout the Police Department and the City. The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to direct and manage multiple and diverse priorities while simultaneously exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines. Excellent project management skills are essential to the position of Administrative Services Manager. The ideal candidate will possess five years of progressively responsible experience in budget, analytical, and financial management in a government agency, including at least three years in a management capacity. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large governmental organization with a complex budget including multiple funding sources. Experience working with citizen organizations and elected officials is highly desirable. Relative experience in a medium to large, complex municipal organization or Police Department is highly desirable.
