5-6 INTERMIX SYSTEM PRO-SPRAY H.S. 3.5 VOC SINGLE STAGE PROCESS NOTES Activator Selection Pro-Spray offers a range of Activators to suit the speed and quality requirements needed for every type and size of repair, under all conditions. PCA-350 3:1 high solid Slow speed Activator is recommended for large jobs in low-bake and airdry conditions, across a broad temperature range (68-86 F or 20-30 C). PCA-351 3:1 high solid Normal speed activator is recommended for medium sized jobs (up to a front end) in low-bake and air-dry conditions at temperatures up to 77 F (25 C). PCA-352 3:1 high solid, Express speed Activator provides a fast way to process small repairs, and is ideal for use in cold conditions (i.e. below 68 F or 20 C) and temperatures up to 77 F (25 C). PCA-353 3:1 high solid, Rapid speed Activator provides the quickest way to process small repairs, and is ideal for use in cold conditions (i.e. below 68 F or 20 C) and temperatures up to 77 F (25 C). Thinner Selection The choice of thinner should be made according to application temperature, air movement and size of job. The recommendations below are for guidance only. Thinner Ideal Temperature Range PCR-1762 68 F (20 C) PCR-1763 68-83 F (20-28 C) PCR-1764 77-90 F (25-32 C) Use a slower thinner in fast air movement booths and for large jobs. Use a faster thinner in slow air movement booths and for small jobs. Use Of DX84 Enhancer/Accelerator To increase the through hardening rate, DX84 enhancer/accelerator may be added at a level of 3% of activated and thinned paint or up to ½ ounce per ready to use quart. NOTE: DX84 should not be used in conditions of high temperature (i.e. above 86 F or 30 C) and high humidity. Recoatability Pro-Spray colours are fully recoatable after the Into-service times. Reducing Gloss Levels The gloss level of solid colours may be reduced by adding A-380 2 pack Matting Agent according to the colour formulation provided on the software. Alternatively, use the following guidelines: Gloss Level 2 Pack Colour A-380 Semi-gloss 2 parts (50%) 1 part (50%) Eggshell 3 parts (45%) 2 parts (55%) Matte 1 part (40%) 1 part (60%) This mix should then be activated and thinned at the ratio of 4:1:1. Where a matte finish is required in the repair of a plastic part, refer to the plastics painting system data sheet. Painting Plastics Use the standard plastics painting system (refer to separate data sheet)

PRO-SPRAY INTERMIX SYSTEM 5-7 Polishing H.S. 3.5 VOC SINGLE STAGE PROCESS NOTES Polishing is not normally required as solid colours have a full gloss finish. However, if dirt is a problem, denib with P1200 or finer, then compound by hand or machine using USC Cargroom Fine/Medium or Coarse Finishing Compounds. For optimum appearance, follow with Cherry Gloss Machine Glaze and finish with #24 Carnauba Cream Wax/New Paint Protector. Polishing is easiest between 1 and 24 hours after into service drying times. Other Points To Note 1. For optimum application, ensure both spray booth air temperature and paint temperatures are above 68 F (20 C). Best results will be obtained by allowing adequate time for the paint to reach spray booth temperatures 68-77 F (20-25 C) before use. It is recommended that mixing toners and binders are stored in the temperature range of 60-86 F (15-30 C). This is very important for high solid paint systems; it is strongly recommended that these paints are not used at temperatures below 60 F (15 C) as the performance will be adversely affected. 2. Thoroughly clean the gun immediately after use. Important remarks: For professional use only. Do not handle Pro-Spray Products until the Material Safety Data Sheets have been read and understood. Ensure that all employees are trained on Material Safety Data Sheets for all chemicals with which they come in contact. The manufacturer recommends the use of an air-supplied respirator when exposed to vapors or spray mist. This data sheet information is given in good faith but without warranty. 5-10 INTERMIX SYSTEM PRO-SPRAY Solid Colour Basecoat Procedure: BASECOAT PROCEDURES Spray 2-3 single coats, allowing approximately 2 5 minutes flash off between each coat until full coverage is achieved. Over primed areas and areas where extra coverage is required, apply first a single light coat. Allow to dry for 10 20 minutes at 68 F (20 C) before clearcoating. Metallic Basecoat Colours Procedure: Spray 1 or 2 single coats, at 4 6 inches from the panel allow approximately 2 5 minutes flash off between each coat, followed immediately by a light coat to even out the metallic pattern and orientation. Pulling the gun away an additional two to four inches from the panel and applying a lighter coat achieve this. Do not make this coat too wet. With HVLP equipment, it is not necessary to lower the pressure, although this may be done in order to control the color. Allow to dry for 10 20 minutes at 68 F (20 C) before clearcoating. Basecoat Activation For vehicles requiring a high level of paint performance Pro-Spray basecoats can be activated as follows: 8 parts Pro-Spray basecoat color 1 part Pro-Spray ICA-799, ICA-800, ICA-801, ICA-802 or ICA-803 Activator 9 parts Pro-Spray PCR-1762/1763/1764, ICR-1332/1692/1693/1694 2K High Solids Thinners Repair Procedure: If, during the application of Solid or Metallic colours, some damage occurs such as dust impregnation or moisture spots, allow the base to flash off for 30-60 minutes at 68 F (20 C). Lightly wet sand the damaged area with 600-800 grit paper. As there is no clearcoat to protect the basecoat at this stage, care must be taken to clean up all sanding residue. Two-Tone Procedure: Solid or Metallic colors can be taped off with fine line masking tape after 20 minutes flash off at 68 F (20 C) and a second colour can then be applied. Procedure Problems: In the case of lifting, some substrates are not original and are unknown. Then it is reasonable to apply 2-3 coats of a 2-component primer, prior to the basecoat, over the whole panel. In blending situations, it may be necessary to first apply R-6028 Basecoat Blender (Please refer to R-6028 Technical data sheet for details). In the case of fisheyes caused by silicones, spray 2 mist coats over the contaminated area, and then proceed, allowing longer flash off times. If fisheyes are severe, it may be necessary to allow a dry time of 20-30 minutes, sand and continue to spray the basecoat. Adding anti-silicone to basecoat is not recommended - this may lead to a risk of poor adhesion of the clearcoat. TS-BASCT REV. 0905

PRO-SPRAY INTERMIX SYSTEM 5-11 2-Stage Pearl Colours Procedure BASECOAT PROCEDURES Spray 2 3 medium wet coats, allowing 2 5 minutes flash off between coats, followed immediately by a light coat. Do not lower the air pressure for the final coat. Allow to dry for 10 20 minutes at 68 F (20 C) before clearcoating. 3-Step Pearl Procedure Solid Colour (foundation coat): Spray 2 3 single coats, allowing approximately 2 5 minutes flash off between each coat. Over primed areas and areas where extra coverage is required, apply first a single light coat. Allow the foundation coat to dry for 10 20 minutes at 68 F (20 C). Pearl Colour: Apply single coats based on test panel (this product is not intended to give coverage) allowing 2 5 minutes flash off between coats. Do not lower the air pressure for the final coat. Allow to dry for 10 20 minutes at 68 F (20 C) before clearcoating. Tri-Stage with Tinted Mid-Basecoat Procedure Tri-Stage procedures, with a tinted mid-basecoat, have been introduced by vehicle manufacturers to achieve brighter colours. Where a basecoat refinish requires a tri-stage tinted mid-basecoat procedure, it will be specified in the Pro-Spray Colour Software Program. For example: Manufacturer Colour Name Mfg. Code Year Variant Code Paint System Pro-Spray Number Ford (N. America) Laser Red Tint HL 95/97 Original Shade Pro-Spray Basecoat LA37659BC Ford (N. America) Laser Red Tint HL 95/97 Original Shade Pro-Spray Tinted Mid-Basecoat LA37659BC Step 1 Basecoat Application Mix and apply the Pro-Spray Basecoat following the Metallic Basecoat procedure. Step 2 Tinted Mid-Basecoat Application Mix tinted mid-basecoat according to formula. Apply tinted mid-basecoat according to the basecoat procedure. Important Note: Prior to application of the tinted mid-basecoat, it is essential to spray test panels as detailed below. Spray the basecoat colour to 3 sprayout cards. Using the 3 painted sprayout cards, apply one coat of tinted mid-basecoat to the first, apply 2 coats to the second and apply 3 coats to the third. Apply one coat of activated Pro-Spray Clearcoat to all three sprayout cards. Compare all 3 sprayout cards to the original colour to determine which procedure provides the most accurate match. Step 3 Clearcoat Application The final step must always include the application of activated Pro-Spray Clearcoat of your choice for proper UV protection. Mix and apply the Pro-Spray Clearcoat according to directions.

PRO-SPRAY INTERMIX SYSTEM 5-19 Fade-out Procedure Pro-Spray Single Stage and Basecoat Colours may all be blended out (Please refer to fade-out procedure data sheet for details) with the exception of 3-stage pearls and basecoats requiring a tinted clearcoat. Due to the transparent nature of these colors it may be necessary to repaint a large proportion of the vehicle. Choice Of Hardener - Single-Stage & Activated Basecoat Pro-Spray offers a range of Activators to suit the speed and quality requirements needed for every type and size of repair, under all conditions. ICA-799 Medium Solid, Extra Slow Speed Activator is recommended for large areas (complete re-sprays) in high temperature / high humidity conditions (85 F / 28 C and above). ICA-800 Medium Solid, Slow Speed Activator is recommended for large areas (complete resprays) at temperatures above 77 F/ 25 C. ICA-801 Medium Solid, Normal Speed Activator is recommended for large areas (complete resprays) at temperatures up to 77 F/ 25 C. ICA-802 Medium Solid, Fast Speed Activator Use on spot, panel and multi-panel repairs ideal for use in temperatures below 75 F / 25 C. ICA-803 Medium Solid, Rapid Speed Activator Provides the quickest dry times for spot and panel repairs ideal for use in temperatures 65 F / 20 C or below. Choice Of Thinner/Reducer The choice of thinner should be made according to application temperature, air movement and size of job. The recommendations below are for guidance only. Thinner Ideal Temperature Range ICR-1332 up to 59 F/15 C ICR-1692 PCR-1762 up to 68 F/20 C ICR-1693 PCR-1763 64-83 F/18-28 C ICR-1694 PCR-1764 77-90 F/25-32 C In general use a slower thinner in fast air movement booths and for large jobs. Use a faster thinner in slow air movement booths and for small jobs. Recoatability Pro-Spray colours, with all recommended activators, are fully recoatable after the Buff/Deliver times Reduction Of Gloss Levels The gloss level of solid colours may be reduced by addition of A-380 2 pack Matting agent according to the colour formulation provided on the Pro-Spray Computer. Alternatively, use the following guidelines: Gloss Level 2 Component Colour A-380 Semi-Gloss 2 Parts (67%) 1 Part (33%) Eggshell 3 Parts (60%) 2 Parts (40%) Matte 1 Part (50%) 1 Part (50%) This mix should then be activated and thinned as standard. Painting Plastics Semi-Rigid Mix Ratio Flexible Mix Ratio Urethane Primers, Single Stage Urethane Primers, Single Stage Colour & Clearcoats 5 Parts Colour & Clearcoats 2 Parts Flexible Additive P-2020 1 Part Flexible Additive P-2020 1 Part Then add hardener and reduce the normal way.

5-20 INTERMIX SYSTEM PRO-SPRAY Painting Plastics (continued) Basecoats - Flexible additive P-2020 should only be added to Pro-Spray Basecoat when used over very flexible plastics. Mix Ratio Pro-Spray Basecoat 3 Parts Flexible Additive P-2020 1 Part Then add hardener and reduce the normal way. NOTE: The matting agent thickens on storage and should be stirred thoroughly before use to break down the structure. Texturing Bases; Fine P-526, and Coarse P-528 are 2K additives which produce the textured finishes on many original finish bumpers. They are compatible with Pro-Spray mixing schemes giving rise to a wide range of colour options. The three Texturing Bases enable the painting of replacement and repaired bumpers. MIXING Textured bumper paints should have 2K hardener added and be thinned as normal. Do not strain. There is no need to add flexible additive. Texturing Bases should be stirred thoroughly before use. Texturing Bases should not be added to basecoats, 2 component primers or 2 component clearcoats. Door Jambs And Interiors For ease of use when painting door jambs and interiors IC-773 Universal Air Dry 2 Component Converter can be used at the mixing ratio of 1 part 2K Single Stage Paint, 1 part IC-773 and 1 part ICR-1401. NOTE: This system is only recommended for interior surfaces. Buffing And Polishing Polishing is not normally required as topcoats have a full gloss finish. However, if dirt is a problem, denib with P1200 or finer, then compound by hand or machine using USC Cargroom Xcelerator Compound, for optimum appearance follow with Blue Lightning. Polishing of 2 component finishes is easiest between 1 and 24 hours after Buff/Deliver times. Other Points To Note 1. For optimum application, ensure both spray booth air temperature and paint temperature are above 68 F/20 C. Best results will be obtained by allowing adequate time for the paint to reach spray booth temperature before use. It is recommended that mixing basics are stored in the temperature range of 59-86 F/15-30 C. 2. When using 2 component products it is highly recommended to clean the gun thoroughly immediately after use. Important Remarks: For professional use only.
