o The CSN Advantage CSN, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional, is a conversion mill specializing in light gauge galvanized and cold roll steel products. While we understand that steel is a commodity, we also understand that commodities can still be sold while adhering to higher standards of service and quality. Operating independent of its parent organization with an 800,000 square foot plant located in Terre Haute, Indiana the beating heart of the Midwest s steel country CSN provides an impressive selection of coiled sheet steel products. With a distinctive focus on delivering an end product with a notable yield advantage, CSN has invested heavily in highly specialized mill equipment that allows it to retain a much more sophisticated level of control over its products. The CSN process allows us to roll lighter, tighter, and meet higher expectations of flatness.
o The CSN Process o Galvanizing Line Galvanizing Line The CSN galvanizing line applies a thin layer of zinc to cold rolled full hard steel for superior corrosion protection. The galvanizing line boasts in-line tension leveling and a four high temper mill for enhanced surface quality. At 72 wide, the mill s gauge process capability ranges from 0.010 to 0.060. Zinc coating weights range from G30 to G115. Two Stand Reversing Cold Mill Our two-stand reversing cold mill is the beating heart of the CSN operation. A unique and highly innovative piece of equipment that allows us to cold reduce steel down to 0.0095. With a maximum strip speed of 3,500 feet per minute and maximum rolling force of 4,200 pounds per square inch, CSN s mill provides a quick and efficient means to reduce the thickness of hot band coil. Capable of handling coils up to 72 wide, our two stand reversing mill provides twice the performance in half the time. Batch Annealing CSN s 86 bell type hydrogen annealing system is used to anneal cold roll and prepare the steel for further processing. Continuous Pickle Line The pickling process prepares the hot band for further processing by removing impurities such as stains, black oxide, surface scale, and inorganic contaminants from the strip. CSN can process all grades of carbon steel up to 72 wide. Slitter At 72 wide, the CSN slitter, which features a Kor-Flex leveler to provide shape correction, has the ability to slit steel as narrow as 2. We can accommodate gauges ranging from 0.0095 to 0.125. 350,000 TPY Thickness.010" -.060" Width 34" - 72" Coating Weights G30 - G115 Coil ID 20", 24" Product CS, FS, DS, DDS, SS37, SS40, SS50, SS80 Finishes Min Spangle, Extra Smooth Surface Treatments Oil, Chem Treat, RoHS, Acrylic Four High Temper Mill Tension Leveler Closed Loop Coating Control o Temper Mill Thickness.010" -.060" Width 34" - 72" Single Stand Four High Wet or Dry Rolling Closed Loop Shape Control Laser Speed Elongation Control o Batch Annealing Coils/Base 5 Bases 12 Width 48" - 72" Max Stack Height 256" Temper Mill The primary purpose of the temper mill is to improve the surface finish on steel products.
