TYPE HBB - HORIZONTAL SOLIDS-HANDLING WASTEWATER PUMPS Pump Frames 44081 through 64132 GENERAL Furnish and install Horizontal Flexible Coupled Dry Pit Pumping Units complete with all accessories and appurtenances as shown in the plans and specified herein or as required for a complete operating system. Each Pumping Unit shall be rated for continuous duty in accordance with the operating conditions defined in Table 1 of these specifications. Each unit shall be furnished with pump, driver, horizontal pump/motor baseplate with flexible coupling and guard. QUALITY ASSURANCE Qualifications of Manufacturers: The pumps shown and specified are based on the products manufactured by Chicago Pump, Aurora, Illinois. Catalog numbers and references are given only as an indication of the quality of materials and workmanship to be used. Pumps are to be engineered and manufactured under a written Quality Assurance program certified to the ISO 9001:2000 Quality System Standard. The Quality Assurance program is to have been in effect for at least five (5) years and shall include a written record of periodic internal and external audits to confirm compliance with ISO 9001:2000 requirements. QUALITY CONTROL The Dry Pit Pumping Units shall conform to all applicable requirements of ASTM, ANSI and Hydraulic Institute. For purposes of this specification, the revision and/or version of the referenced standards in effect on the date of public bid opening shall apply. The Dry Pit Pumping Units specified shall be the products of reputable manufacturers who have been regularly engaged in the design, manufacture and furnishing of Wastewater Pumping Equipment for at least ten (10) years. The manufacturer of the pump shall assume full responsibility for compatibility of the supplied components with the application. PUMP CONSTRUCTION Pumps shall be solids-handling type and each shall be complete with equipment and accessories as follows: The pump casing, bearing housing, packing housing, suction cover and casing cover shall be manufactured of close-grained ASTM A-48, Class 30 cast iron material. A hand hole shall be provided in the pump casing. The impeller shall be manufactured of close-grained ASTM A-48, Class 30 cast iron and dynamically balanced. The impeller shall be of the two-part closed design capable of passing a three inch sphere. The pump shaft shall be machined from high grade alloy steel. A large packing box shall be bolted to the pump casing. The packing box shall be provided with not less than five rings of graphite impregnated braided acrylic packing, a water seal ring and tapped connections so that seal water from an outside source or grease lubrication sealing may be provided. The pump shaft shall be protected from wear at the packing box by a slip-on type stainless steel sleeve. Date: 9/05 PAGE 2111.501

TYPE HBB HORIZONTAL The pump shall have two sets of deep-grooved single-row ball bearings designed for both radial and thrust loads. The bearings shall be mounted in a dust and moisture proof housing that is bolted to the pump casing to insure permanent alignment. Alemite fittings shall be furnished at each ball bearing for grease lubrication. A common base shall be provided for mounting of the pump and drive. The base shall be fabricated of steel, all welded construction, with grout holes, and deep channel drip lip design. Drainage connections shall be furnished at both ends. Each pump shall be provided with a flexible shaft coupling and metal, OSHA approved coupling guard. The coupling guard shall be factory mounted to each base to protect personnel from rotating parts at the coupling. Pumps and supports shall receive one coat of an environmentally safe machinery enamel coating with a high solids content. Suction Handhole Fitting (Add on pump frames 64081, 64101, 64121 and 64122). A 6 x 4 cast iron flanged reducer shall be provided on the pump suction. The reducer shall have a handhole cleanout. A ¼ pipe tap for gauge connection shall be provided at the flange. OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT A. Heavy-duty bearings (Power Frame # 2) (Available on frames 4412, 6412, 4413 & 6413.) Each pump shall have two (2) sets of deep grooved double row ball bearings designed for both radial and thrust loads. B. Bronze impellers - Impellers shall be bronze, hydraulically and dynamically balanced. C. Mechanical seals - The seal housing shall be provided with a double type mechanical seal with precision lapped, carbon vs. ceramic faces for true sealing. The mechanical seal shall be lubricated by (fluid from the pump discharge after passing through a replaceable cartridge type filter) or (clear water from an external source). D. Wearing rings - A stainless steel renewable wearing ring shall be provided on the impeller and casing to reduce wear on these parts. E. Stainless steel pump shaft The pump shaft shall be machined from AISI 416 stainless steel, turned, ground, and polished. F. Anchor bolts - Sleeve type imbedded anchor bolts shall be furnished for securing the pump to the foundation. G. Grease cup (For use with packed pump seal.) An automatic, 2-ounce capacity, spring loaded grease cup shall be furnished and installed on each pump to feed grease to the pump packing box. Grease cups shall be provided with an Alemite fitting for replacing grease. H. Suction handhole fitting (Option on pump frames 44081, 44101, 44121, 44122, 64131 and 64132.) A cast iron flanged fitting shall be provided at the pump suction. The fitting shall have a handhole cleanout. A ¼ pipe tap for gauge connection shall be provided at the flange. TYPE HBB - HORIZONTAL SOLIDS-HANDLING WASTEWATER PUMPS I. Hardened shaft sleeve (Not recommended for pumps with mechanical seal.) A 440C series stainless steel shaft sleeve with a minimum hardness of 550 Brinell shall be furnished. MOTORS Each pump shall be driven by a horizontal, foot-mounted solid shaft squirrel cage induction electric motor with a maximum horsepower and speed as specified. The motor shall be mounted and supported by the fabricated steel baseplate. The motor shall have a (ODP) (TEFC) (TEXP) enclosure and shall meet all the requirements of NEMA, IEEE and NEC. Motors shall be rated for phase, volts, hertz electrical service TESTING The natural frequency of the assembled pump and its supporting structure shall be at least 25 percent higher than the maximum pump excitation frequency. The pump shall operate within the vibration limits of the Hydraulic Institute The pumps shall be performance tested at the manufacturer s plant before shipment in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards. Upon request, certified copies of the test curves shall be submitted to the engineer. Each pump shall be hydrostatically tested at the manufacturer s plant before shipment in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards. Upon request, certified copies of the test results shall be submitted to the engineer. FIELD SERVICE Days of Field Service shall be provided by an authorized, factory trained representative of the Pump Manufacturer. Services shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, inspection of the completed installation to ensure that it has been performed in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions and recommendations, supervision of all field-testing and activation of the Manufacturer s Prescribed Warranty. TYPE VOS VERTICAL OPEN SHAFT Pumps and supports shall receive one coat of an environmentally safe machinery enamel coating with a high solids content. A motor support pedestal shall be provided for mounting the motor on a separate motor floor. Vertical shafting shall be provided to transmit power from the motor to the pump. MOTORS Each pump shall be driven by a vertical normal thrust solid shaft squirrel cage induction electric motor with a maximum horsepower and speed as specified. The motor shall have a (ODP) (TEFC) (TEXP) enclosure and shall meet all the requirements of NEMA, IEEE and NEC. Motors shall be rated for phase, volts, hertz electrical service OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT A. Shafting shall be furnished with universal joints to compensate for misalignment, which might occur during or develop after installation of the pump and motor. The shafting shall be provided with a slip spline, which will permit the removal of the pump shaft and impeller without removing any section of intermediate shafting or any intermediate bearing and without removing the suction or discharge piping. Where necessary, support beams shall be furnished and installed by the contractor for anchoring intermediate bearing. Shafting shall be furnished in sections for a motor floor to pump floor dimension of ft. in. Where multiple lengths are required, a relubricable pillow block bearing shall be furnished on all but the lowest sections of shafting. Shafting shall be of steel tubing design with minimum bearing life of 8,000 hours under continuous duty operation. Motor and pump coupling flanges shall be provided with the shafting. B. Grease lines of galvanized steel shall be furnished for each pump with fittings to provide grease from a point above the motor support floor to each pillow block bearing and to the two pump ball bearings. C. A shafting guard of expanded metal, all welded construction shall be furnished for mounting on each pump and shall extend four feet above top of pump. D. Heavy-duty bearings (Power Frame # 2) (Available on frames 4412, 6412, 4413 & 6413.) Each pump shall have two (2) sets of deep grooved double row ball bearings designed for both radial and thrust loads. E. Anti-rotational clutch - An anti-rotational clutch shall be furnished on each pump to prevent reverse rotation of the pump impeller when pump is not operating. The pump shall operate within the vibration limits of the Hydraulic Institute The pumps shall be performance tested at the manufacturer s plant before shipment in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards. The Quality Assurance program is to have been in effect for at least five (5) years and shall include a written record of periodic internal and external audits to confirm compliance with ISO 9001:2000 requirements. QUALITY CONTROL The pumps shall conform to all applicable requirements of ASTM, ANSI and Hydraulic Institute. For purposes of this specification, the revision and/or version of the referenced standards in effect on the date of public bid opening shall apply. The specified pumps shall be the products of reputable manufacturers who have been regularly engaged in the design, manufacture and furnishing of wastewater pumping equipment for at least ten (10) years. The manufacturer of the pump shall assume full responsibility for compatibility of the supplied components with the application. PUMP CONSTRUCTION Pumps shall be solids-handling type and each shall be complete with accessories as follows: The pump casing, bearing housing, pump pedestal, floor plate, packing housing, suction cover and casing cover shall be manufactured of close-grained ASTM A-48, Class 30 cast iron. A suction elbow shall be provided with a handhole. A second handhole shall be provided in the pump casing. The impeller shall be manufactured of close-grained ASTM A-48, Class 30 cast iron and dynamically balanced. The impeller shall be of the two-part closed design capable of passing a three inch sphere. The pump shaft shall be machined from high grade alloy steel. A large packing box shall be bolted to the pump casing. The packing box shall be provided with not less than five rings of graphite impregnated braided acrylic packing, a water seal ring and tapped connections so that seal water from an outside source or grease lubrication sealing may be provided. TYPE VPM VERTICAL PEDESTAL MOUNTED The pump shall have two sets of deep-grooved single-row ball bearings designed for both radial and thrust loads. The bearings shall be mounted in a dust and moisture proof housing that is bolted to the pump casing to insure permanent alignment. Alemite fittings shall be furnished at each ball bearing for grease lubrication. Pumps and supports shall receive one coat of an environmentally safe machinery enamel coating with a high solids content. A motor support pedestal shall be bolted to the pump casings. The electric motor shall be directly connected by flexible coupling to the pump shaft. MOTORS Each pump shall be driven by a vertical normal thrust solid shaft squirrel cage induction electric motor with a maximum horsepower and speed as specified. The motor shall have a (ODP) (TEFC) (TEXP) enclosure and shall meet all the requirements of NEMA, IEEE and NEC. Motors shall be rated for phase, volts, hertz electrical service OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT A. Heavy-duty bearings (Power Frame # 2) (Available on frames 4412, 6412, 4413 & 6413.) Each pump shall have two (2) sets of deep grooved double row ball bearings designed for both radial and thrust loads. B. Bronze impellers - Impellers shall be bronze, hydraulically and dynamically balanced. C. Mechanical seals - Seal housing shall be provided with a double type mechanical seal with precision lapped carbon vs. ceramic face for true sealing. The mechanical seal shall be lubricated by (fluid from the pump discharge after passing through a replaceable cartridge type filter) or (clear water from and external source). D. Wearing rings - A stainless steel renewable wearing ring shall be provided on the impeller and casing to reduce wear on these parts. E. Stainless steel pump shaft - Pump shafts shall be machined from AISI 416 stainless steel, turned, ground, and polished. F. Anchor bolts - Sleeve type imbedded anchor bolts shall be furnished for securing the pumps to the foundations. G. Grease cup (For use with packed pump seal.) An automatic, 2-ounce capacity, spring loaded grease cup shall be furnished and installed on each pump to feed grease to the pump packing box. Grease cups shall be provided with an Alemite fitting for replacing grease. H. Hardened shaft sleeve (Not recommended for pumps with mechanical seal.) A 440C series stainless steel shaft sleeve with a minimum hardness of 550 Brinell shall be furnished. I. Anti-rotational clutch - (Available only on P.F. #2 on type VPM pumps). An anti-rotational clutch shall be furnished on each pump to prevent reverse rotation of the pump impeller when pump is not operating. PAGE 2111.522 Date: 9/05

TYPE VPM VERTICAL PEDESTAL MOUNTED SOLIDS-HANDLING WASTEWATER PUMPS TESTING The natural frequency of the assembled pump and its supporting structure shall be at least 25 percent higher than the maximum pump excitation frequency. The pump shall operate within the vibration limits of the Hydraulic Institute The pumps shall be performance tested at the manufacturer s plant before shipment in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards. Upon request, certified copies of the test curves shall be submitted to the engineer. Each pump shall be hydrostatically tested at the manufacturer s plant before shipment in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards. Upon request, certified copies of the test results shall be submitted to the engineer. FIELD SERVICE Days of Field Service shall be provided by an authorized, factory trained representative of the Pump Manufacturer. Services shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, inspection of the completed installation to ensure that it has been performed in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions and recommendations, supervision of all field-testing and activation of the Manufacturer s Prescribed Warranty.
