WHY a quality and sustainability label? Increasing amount of materials on the market not fulfilling the requirements of the national and European quality and sustainability standards Increasing competition on price at the cost of quality and sustainability All actors on the market are not constrained by REACH No visible way to prescribe quality and sustainability Competitive and well-known quality marks on the market, e.g. Qualicoat
Philosophy behind ECCA Premium Goals and objectives Make Quality & Sustainability top criteria for product selection by decision makers along the construction chain Fight against low quality materials: promote sustainability and quality upgrade of products and ensure a level playing field and fair competition Avoid deterioration of coil coating image by promoting sustainable and high quality product & processes

ECCA Premium can only be applied for by a coil coater Suppliers (paint, chemical, substrate) can/should make sure their products are compliant with the requirements, but cannot be granted the label ECCA Premium can be granted to any coil coater whose line and product fulfill the requirements Not limited to European coil coaters or to ECCA members
What is ECCA Premium? ECCA Premium is product and line specific Product: Defined by its brand name and technical specifications May vary on many properties, but NOT on paint type and thickness Exception: film thickness variation due to colour matching needs is accepted, BUT a 25μm brown PE and a 35μm brown PE are not the same product Line: Coil coating process part of the line. Any combinations with other process steps are accepted, but the requirements only relate to the coil coating part of the process
What is ECCA Premium? ECCA Premium is based on EN standards and European legislation Requirements divided in four categories Product quality Product sustainability Manufacturing quality Manufacturing sustainability
