Premiering in 2004 10 TOP COMPANIES for Diversity Journal The Forum for Workforce Diversity Profiles in The Forum for Workforce Diversity TOP COMPANIES for INNOVATION in Diversity First Annual International Innovation in Diversity Awards May/June 2004 Will your organization make the list? For application and information visit www.diversityjournal.com or call 1.800.573.2867.

2004 International Innovation in Diversity Awards OVERVIEW The first annual Profiles in Diversity Journal International Innovation in Diversity Awards will honor corporations, organizations, and institutions around the world that have developed innovative solutions that offer measurable outcomes in the area of workforce diversity and inclusion. Our objective is to encourage and increase the number of businesses and institutions implementing innovative programs, projects or practices that will help to improve workforce diversity/inclusion excellence. Ten organizations will be selected as honorees with the top three organizations receiving special recognition as Gold (first place), silver (second place) and Bronze (third place) award winners. In defining innovation, we use Webster s dictionary definition as effecting a change in the established order; the creating of something new. Innovations can be in the form of new ideas, methods, services, or processes that improve the quality of life or enhance productivity within an organization. Diversity is defined as differences among people with respect to age, class, ethnicity, gender, physical and mentally ability, race, sexual orientation, spiritual practice, or any other human difference. These awards will recognize innovations within the organization that have been launched within the past TWO years, and have had an influence and delivered a positive outcome on diversity management, staff recruitment, and/or toward inclusiveness and improved equity in the workplace. Any ONE idea or project qualifies so long as the results are already making a greater impact on diversity management and/or business and institutional diversity/inclusion excellence than anything prior. Selection criteria include: n Ease of implementation n Effectiveness in improving diversity awareness/management, staff recruitment, employee retention and/or inclusiveness and improved equity in the workplace n Evidence of commitment and involvement from Senior Management and employees n Genuine measurable outcomes (tangible and/or intangible) outcomes solely or primarily traceable to that innovation. OBJECTIVE These awards were developed to: n Encourage and share innovative best practice in workforce diversity n Recognize and reward organizations pioneering innovations in diversity n Increase the profile of innovative diversity practices within organizations n Inspire organizations and institutions to take innovative approaches to diversity management.

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION Working through the application process will enable you to: n Showcase your innovations in diversity n Observe your team s performance from a different point of view n Help gain support and recognition for your team s initiatives from a broader audience. If your organization is one of the top ten selected to receive the Profiles in Diversity 2004 International Innovation in Diversity Awards, you will receive: n Publication of your accomplishment. The recognition you and your project deserve will be part of a Special Feature in the May/June 2004 issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal n A plaque commemorating this award n Public recognition in the wider business community through press releases promoting the Awards winners n The feature highlighting your accomplishment will appear on the Profiles in Diversity Journal Web site for an entire year with links to your organization s site n A copy of the Profiles in Diversity 2004 Innovation in Diversity Awards logo will be available for your advertising and Web site. JUDGING An independent panel of judges will be made up from diversity practitioners, organizational leaders, and management and communications specialists. Each nomination will be judged initially on its own merits rather than in competition with other nominations. Ranking within the top ten (i.e., 5 th place), other than those named First, Second and Third place, will not be made public. HOW TO ENTER Nominations can be submitted by anyone including the nominee. Nominees can be organizations, individuals or teams within an organization or institution. Nominations must be in the form of a CASE STUDY of no more than 1,500 words. Your nomination should include photos and any other material that illustrate your innovation in diversity. n Please complete and return your application and send any supporting documentation by April 21, 2004 via: e-mail to info@diversityjournal.com; by fax to 440-892-0737; or by mail to 2004 Innovation in Diversity Awards, Profiles in Diversity Journal, P.O.
